Not receiving Trade Me confirmation email when I've sold an item
AnsweredI noticed over the last few days my auctions are expring without any emails from Trade Me which I rely on to stay informed. Same with a recent sale of a computer component; I had to apologise to the buyer because I didn't notice the sale for a few days (no email again.) All my account settings seem correct. I have asked Trade Me about it on the contact form but can anyone offer a clue?

I have the same issue. I have checked my microsoft account and my email is registered against my microsoft account. I receive emails from trademe for other user accounts I have with trademe. But for one account I don't receive any email whatsoever - nothing in my junk email and nothing in my deleted items and not in my other email folder. I have flagged all three trademe email addresses on my safe list. mailer@trademe.co.nz

Hi Tracey. Is that a hotmail address via your microsoft account? That is a common one that seems to suddenly start filtering emails from us. How long ago did you make those changes to the email safe list settings?

I figured out my email problem and it may help some of you here. If you have a professional Gmail account from the old days brought through google Gsuite, the email will no longer work because Gsuite is gone and has been replaced with Google Workspace, and you now need to pay a monthly fee for the use of the professional Gmail. Hope this helps someone.

Lucy, I have added the three email addresses to my safe sender list. I still don't get emails from trademe when something sells. I have the configuration setup on my account to receive these emails.
I also changed my email in case this was an issue. Still no result.

After many years I suddenly stopped receiving TradeMe emails back in February. Found this page with "answer" that didn't work ("check you Spam, whitelist TradeMe") so switched to a different email account. That worked for about seven months, now again emails stopped arriving. This is obviously TradeMe problem and nothing an individual can fix -- looks like TradeMe has being added to some global spam lists and they should deal with this rather than repeating the same "check your Spam, whitelist TradeMe".

I now have 2 email addresses that will not receive any trademe emails, waiting for to try the 3RD email now

Hi Linda - I'm on my fourth over a 2 year period and hoping it stays working as I have run out of options
I now have 2 email addresses that will not receive any trademe emails, waiting for to try the 3RD email now

I've stopped getting emails telling me items have sold too.

Dec 2022. I’ve the same iPad, the same yahoo account and the same sort of purchases and listed sales for many years. Suddenly all correspondence from Trade Me has stopped. The emails aren’t in the spam box. Customer Service said to add fou4 addresses to my address book. That advice hasn’t worked. I asked again with no reply from customer service. I’m very annoyed as I rely on the bit of income to support my purchases!

Margaret, I got around this bug by setting up a new gmail address and making it my trademe email contact point. Then I set up an automatic forward of all emails from the gmail to my existing email account. It has been working over a year and I get all messages.

I have got the same problem. it started mid night Wednesday. i have had to change back to a Hotmail email. 100% not in spam

I've had the same hotmail account since the 1990s which I've been using on TradeMe since 2011 with no problems. Now no emails at all from TradeMe. I've followed all of the instructions above. I regularly check my junk email folder anyway and I've added all the emails to safe list. I really don't want to have to set up another account but looks like I'll have to. TradeMe please try and sort out.

Hi Sandra, good luck with that. I was the same Hotmail for since 2006, no problem . Then last year no emails from Trademe, for probably over a year now. I put the safe sender addresses in, still nothing. I refused to change my email address and thats about it. I have to check Trademe everyday if I'm selling anything or check for any questions. This is a Trademe problem that needs to be fixed but nothing ever happens.

Thankyou Sandra for supporting this chain of comments. I need to do a large number of listings. Not being able to see anything in Inbox and having to check Junk is annoying. Hopefully others will comment who have the issue so that as well as adding to contact lists Trade Me can find a better way to sort this out.

Hi everyone. This is something which happens with Hotmail addresses from time to time. The email client starts filtering our messages as spam or high risk and deletes them, even when there haven't been issues in the past. It might be because of the number of messages you're receiving from us. Adding these addresses to your safe senders list ordinarily fixes the problem:
mailer@trademe.co.nz
noreply@trademe.co.nz
support@trademe.co.nz

Lucy, your list on the Help page is actually more correct, as you haven't used support@trademe.co.nz since 2021

4. Add us to your contacts
Add these email addresses to your contacts or safe-sender list:
mailer@trademe.co.nz
customersupport@trademe.co.nz
@email.trademe.co.nz
noreply@trademe.co.nzI would probably add trustandsafety@trademe.co.nz also, as this is the one members selling something that needs checking will usually get an email from.

I am having the same problem, also with a yahoo account, and after more than 10 years of not having any issues I have added all the trademe email addresses to 'contacts' and it makes no difference. The trade me emails are not in my spam folder either. They are just not arriving at all. My next step will be to try a gmail address

Hi Gayle, sorry to hear about the issue with emails. When did you stop receiving them? And how long has it been since you added the addresses to your contacts?
Before testing with Gmail, it might be worth speaking to an agent via Live Chat for them to check things behind the scenes for you.0 -
To Lucy on Community Support. Why doesn’t someone just fix this issue up? There must be IT people there who can do this. Both Gayle and I would be very appreciative! Yahoo is generally a good provider. I don’t want to use gmail.

Hi Margaret, yes it would be terrific to get this sorted. Unfortunately sometimes it isn't always something on our end that we can fix. With many different email clients, there are quite a few possible causes for it.
We can check things again for you both. I understand creating a new address or switching over to a different account isn't what you really want to do. The fastest way to get help will be to use Live Chat so the agent can get the information they need from you all at once and make some background checks on our mailing logs.0 -
no emails from trade me for weeks, its a problem at their end, they rectified it once before last year and its been fine, until 2 weeks ago, all their email addresses are intact in my contacts folder and have not been marked as "blocked"
Very frustrating. all the same problems , selling stuff and not receiving notifications

Have been receiving some emails from Trademe this month from mailer@site.trademe.co.nz as opposed to the regular mailer@trademe.co.nz and weirdly they have a Trademe avatar icon vs the none for the regular feedback mailer one. Not sure why the different email address but would pay for people to add this to their whitelist unless you already have the domain added with a wildcard. I first noticed on feedback received emails, but not all eg I received one from the regular address, then from the site email address, then another from the regular one. It's only been happening since 1st Feb ie yesterday. Have also received from this site email on purchases, questions asked, and fav searches.

Sorry, what does whitelist, wildcard and avatar mean? I’m interested as I have things go on like not being able to see anything in my listing page for a day this weekend. My TradeMe communication still goes to spam and never to my inbox. But I don’t understand what you are saying.

Kia Ora Margaret,
In Regards to your TradeMe Emails going into your Spam Folder instead of Inbox - I had this happening most of Last year 2023 - Long story short, when I looked at the email filters set up through my email program every letter of the alphabet was set to move incoming emails into my Spam Folder - I had Not set this up - I had to Delete these Filters designated to the alpha character - TradeMe Emails have come through to my Inbox since. - I am with Spark through an xtra address - hope this Helps - Cheers.

Margaret, the important one is whitelist, which means I add it to my contacts (in Firefox, differs between browsers) so it is recognised and emails from there are not treated as spam.
Avatar is the little pictures in some emails and wildcards are a search/location device.

Thanks for explaining. I have all the TradeMe contact emails added to my addresses. I just try to keep it all simple. I’ve traded for many tears and these issues are all new!

Margaret, like Chris said, if you add the sender to your contacts, then that should help, but it depends on your email software. Best thing to do would be to google email whitelist and see instructions for whatever email system you are using eg xtra, gmail, hotmail, webmail, outlook, email client etc etc.
A wildcard is as the name suggests a character that can be used as a wild card (replacement for something else) like a joker or a wild 2 in card games. Here are 2 common wildcards.
* Matches any number of characters. You can use the asterisk (*) anywhere in a character string. eg wh* finds what, white, and why, but not awhile or watch.
? Matches a single alphabet in a specific position. eg b?ll finds ball, bell, and bill.
