Is anybody really listening to us?
Is there any chance that Trade Me admin is actually listening to us and there might be a change of mind so we can use bank transfer if we want to? Please don't give me TM's spiel about Ping being wanted as an answer, because many of us just do not want it and are just so tired of being given the spiel as an answer.

Are they listening - probably, will they change their mind - probably not
Exactly how many do you know don't want to use ping compared to the 2 million active members?

No, they won't go back now. In-Trade Sellers have had it mandated since November last year.
I can't really understand the angst to be honest. How many other large online retailers do you know that allow payment with bank transfer? I don't know any.......

I prefer Ping as it's quick and easy. However, I have received emails from a couple of my regular buyers expressing their reluctance to use Ping. I think there is a misconception that you have to have a credit card to use it?

Hello Callum, when buying on line and a card needs to be used, I have found ringing the company and asking about a bank transfer gets me a bank account number and a buying code so the sale will go through. Yes, there are some that refuse but more that are helpful.
The angst is because after my experience with Ping, it is something that I cannot trust. If you trust it then you have been lucky so far.

I'm pretty miffed with the whole Ping concept at the moment. Trade Me made it fairly clear that the two forms of payment that would be accepted were Ping and cash. Yet there are still more traders than you can shake a stick at stating that they will accept bank deposits. Come on Trade Me either enforce the rules or don't make them!

The thing that gets me is the many sellers avoiding the ping fee by not having their shipping options in the shipping section & have them instead in the listing details.Which of course means the buyer has to make at least one payment by bank deposit. Most buyers just make the one payment including shipping by deposit to save paying twice & sellers know this & of course they are saving fees on shipping as most people know intrade sellers have to pay success fees on postage. Some sellers even state they don't accept ping payments even though of course it's one of the options. You shouldn't be allowed to list anything if you don't have the shipping options in the correct place as it makes a mockery of the whole system.

Anyone else seeing bank deposit option starting to disappear from auctions. Looks like that question may be answered soon.

S Community SuperuserKia Ora L,Yes! when I create New Listings the Bank deposit option from the price and payment page has been removed completely from the list of payment method options. - Cheers.0

I personally hate ping. I used it Once, and will never use it again. I won't be selling on TM again if I can't use bank transfer. Id rather have success fees, and choose my own options to pay.
Instead of Forcing it on everyone, go by red feedback, if it's more than 2 in a week, ping only option, or ban the user.
I pay by bank transfer,And sell by it... It's Faster, and it stops multiple shipping costs. Let's face it, most charge a extra fee to combine or refuse to combine at all. When I buy, it's Rarely just one item.. I'm Not making loads of payments. And after pay.. costs too much. Use KLARNA it's Free no fees!! But TM doesn't include That option.. C'mon @TradeMe.. get rid of ping, return our human rights.3 -

Using PING v bank deposits is not a human rights issue.
Out of interest, what went so wrong with the ping when you used it the once?

In my experience bank transfers are not quicker than Ping.

Yes, I've never understood that claim that bank transfers are faster than Ping either. Ping is instant into your Ping account. Available immediately to spend within Trade Me. Or if you instead choose to transfer it out that generally takes the same amount of time as a standard bank transfer.
Sure, if your buyer has the same bank account as you, that can be instant. Likewise if you have the same bank that Trade Me uses the Ping transfer will happen at 2:45pm when then do the daily payout.

Callum, my bank pays out to other banks on the hour, which is much better than Trade Me doing it once a day. Paying once a day is what banks did in the past, it enabled them to have the use of the money until it was paid - so why is TM hanging on to peoples payments?
1 -
I would have thought that once a day was acceptable and hardly holding onto payments.
1 -
No shortsbandy, that amount of time is really is not good enough.

Sorry you don't think it's quick enough - it works for me.
3 -
Does your bank work that way?

Sold an item yesterday, buyer paid with ping, I transferred the money out of ping manually to my bank account five minutes later.
The Ping statement says it has transferred out, but still no funds in my bank account the next day.
If the buyer had used a bank deposit, I would have had the funds within the hour yesterday.
"Funds will remain in your Ping balance until you make a purchase or transfer out manually." is a misleading statement, because my money is neither in my ping account, nor has it been transferred out into my bank account.

Transfers are made at 2:45pm each day. If you requested the transfer after that cut-off, it will happen at 2:45pm today.
I find the best way is to tick the box for automatic transfers. That way you know it happens and you don't need to check and manually request it each time you make a sale.

1613hrs the following day and still no payment in my bank account. Buyers bank deposit for additional postage came through within the hour, but TradeMe's ping transfer still hasn't arrived.

Sorry 50bmg, you have hit the joy of using Ping, works for some and fails badly for others.
2 -
Just realized that your Ping failure is the same as the bank transfers that Ping is supposed to fix. A Yeah Right moment.

For my safety....

You got it 50bmg, just not the money as well!

Since the inception of the supposedly mandatory Ping, I have noticed a big increase in the number of buyers wishing to pay using bank deposit.
1 -
Popular with a vocal few and so it has to be forced onto us.
It must be admitted that after my Ping account was hacked, I spread the news far and wide that it was not to be trusted. The is what happens when something is bad.

The mandated Buyers Service fee applied on selecting Ping as the payment method on Casual Sellers Listings may be an effect on what some are seeing also. In some case's it's not come across clearly to all Members that this fee is charged on Casual Sellers Listings only and not applicable to In-Trade Sellers Listings.
ADD: - I've come across In-Trade Sellers stating in their Listings they are paying the Buyers Service fee in their descriptions.

flossy63,
You may not have seen In-Trade Sellers stating they will pay the Buyers Service fee yet but I have - there is alot of confusion over this and Yes! Buyers paying a Service fee on Ping are wanting a Bank account transfer instead as the ones I've seen requesting for this as they don't want to pay the Service fee on Ping payment.
