Yes, the buyer can see the number, but if it's added there manually they are not notified or emailed.

I know it's hard to check and confirm 100% But according to buyers I have asked in the past, they say they can't see the tracking number at their end if I add it manually. Best way to confirm Duane would be to add the tracking number then ask your buyer to check it out.
PS I used to do mine through the My Products sold tab, rather than the usual sold page. If it makes a difference.

I can also confirm that having bought and sold items, Trademe never notify or email the buyer the tracking information, even if the tracking number is not added manually and added through book a courier.
I found this out when multiple customers emailed asking for tracking information after receiving no notification from Trademe, hence I now email the tracking information separately to each customer.

That's strange Greg. I always receive an email from Trademe when someone I buy from uses Book a Courier and it also shows on my won items page too. The email looks like this one..

Have never received that, and prior to emailing tracking info myself, multiple buyers would reach out to me to ask for the tracking info.
I can definitely see the tracking info on the won items page for items I buy, but never receive email notification. I suspect the same is the case for my customers

I get the odd one ask for tracking info, but it's only once in a blue moon. It's usually the ones that I have already emailed saying they will receive an email when I book the courier, plus it's on Trademe in their won items folder and reminding them I said I would place feedback to confirm when collected and on the way.

flossy63 Community Superuserare booking the courier from your sold auction, or send something else?,it will only send an E-Mail to Buyer if the courier is booked via the sold auction,if you use send something else, buyer will not be notified as not linked to a sold item,I have had sellers do that, as I myself had to ask for a tracking number,0

Booking it directly from the sold listing, and the tracking number automatically populates in my sold items list against the sale, but I know for certain that my customers don’t receive email notification with the tracking info.

Kia Ora All,
Interestingly I normally always receive the TM email as Gary-NZStocked has provided above for all BAC parcels - However my last purchase from a repeat Seller who normally uses BAC, I did not receive the TM email but I can see the tracking number in black in my Won items - No link attached - This is very unusual from this Seller - Cheers.

Here's another example email I just received this morning Greg where the seller is using BAC. The tracking link also appears in my Items I won folder on the old site, but nowhere at all on the new site.

Greg,
As indicated you are not receiving the TM BAC emails yourself either are you having any trouble receiving other forms of emails from TM at all?
Do you have the TM safe sending address's in your contacts or safe-sender list? Problems receiving Trade Me emails – Help - Trade Me
If you continue Not to receive these Tracking emails when you are certain you should it may pay to Contact TM staff for an investigation into what is happening here with your account perhaps. The "Live Chat" hours are weekdays 8:am - 6:30pm and weekends 8:30am - 4:pm
At the same time I had not received this tracking email from a regular Seller who I normally do receive this from, I also had 2 Tracking emails come through from separate Sellers using BAC - not sure why this one didn't but perhaps entered manually on this occasion.
- Cheers.
