I made an error on the listing - can I cancel the trade?
AnsweredI put the wrong shoe-size on an auction, but someone bought the boots that day (buy now) before I could change it. I've contacted the buyer and they do not want that size. How do I cancel the transaction? I want to be able to relist the item correctly.

You can't cancel a transaction, but after 3 days (I think it is) you can apply for a success fee refund if the sale is not going ahead, by clicking in to the auction and selecting If the sale falls through....
- Place feedback about the buyer.
- You may be entitled to a refund of your success fee.
and when that come through after 3 days or sooner, relist.

Gary I have a funny feeling that 3 day thing before you apply might be gone now. Vaguely remember doing it recently on a just closed auction after buyer contacted me explaining they had made a mistake. It's probably for the better if it is gone. There are plenty of times when an immediate fee refund is warranted.
You can certainly get to the request a refund page straight away on a just closed item without any warnings showing. But hard to test for sure without actually "doing it".
Maybe Vanessa can get back to us and confirm if they were able to request a fee refund straight away.

Yes, it can be refunded straight away now callum. It changed at some stage in theses covidy times and has been that way at least 9 months.

Gary-NZStocked, Callum, Don_. Thank you so much for your useful and timely advice. :)
I hit the refund of your success fee only 2 days after the trade, and it immediately came back with a message to say it had been refunded. Fantastic!!!
I'm now able to relist (well at least I will once I triple-check the boot size!)

Jeremiah, if the listing has closed and sold and the reserve price was met, then yes, that's the price it sells for. However, if you have made a genuine mistake by not setting a reserve price, then the buyer should understand and not hold you to it if you apologise and explain your mistake.
When starting a listing you have the option to set a reserve price, but if you don't, the start price becomes the reserve, irrespective of having a Buy Now or not.
