Bids placed on too many items
On both the app and website, when i go to bid on an item, it says "you cannot place a bid as you already have bids on too many items". I didn't know there was a limit. But also, i have had many of the auctions i was bidding on close, but it still says i have too many bids on active auctions.

Kia ora caman1, there is a limit to the number of listings members can bid on, it sounds like you've hit that. If you try again later, you should be able to bid again, sorry for the confusion.

Since when has there been a limit?

flossy63 Community SuperuserEditedExactly news to me?,back in early days there was a limited until you reach a certain feedback number, same as using Buy Nows you could not until you had reached a feedback number?,now new members create new fake accounts use buy now's straight away, as been blacklisted, but now I have removed buy now's as sick of these new members, now can review auctions with Bids before they close, as restricted to authenticated, but now only costs $1, when back in the days it was $10, Trade Me have opened them selves up to scammers etc. now, but cannot see the problem they have created,EDIT: I am interested in what the Limit actually is now? as I had to remove 17 bids off on member at their request, about a month ago, after I answered their question, wanted overnight delivery?, so I did & blacklisted, as wasting my time & their attitude was much to be desired, then they created a new account Lol!, which I picked up on as same auctions, after they won, which Trade Me investigated and new account went poof!, Yes too easy for these new accounts to be created, with only $1 authentication, $10 people would think twice before doing it, $10 a lot to lose if caught.5

An auction site that limits how many bids you can place? Surely not.

There are many limits on Trade Me. Always has been. You can't place too many bids. You can't do too many buynows. You can't ask too many questions. And one I found out recently, there is even a limit on how many items you can report via Community Watch.
I find they are pretty generous though. Maybe caman1 can come back and tell us how many items they were bidding on. I suspect it's going to be quite a high number.....

flossy63 Community SuperuserOh yes forgot about that watchlist one, had it right back at the beginning 20 odd years ago when account was still pretty new, could only watchlist 20 until you reached a certain feedback level or something like that?,0

Wonders what the CW limit was that you reached Callum? I have made 52 reports this morning ok.

I wasn't counting but I would say over 100? I made the mistake of doing searches for 021* and 027* one day. This brings up auctions with a phone number in the description. Hundreds of 'em.
I was able to do reports again the next day, so it was a 12 or 24 hour limit.
Now that success fees are gone for casuals, a phone number in the description probably isn't the big issue (for fee avoidance) that it once was.

Ahh, ok. Maybe I'll keep going and do some more from one of my fav searches. Thousands to choose from so will work my way through and see if 100 is the limit.
Problem with contact details in description is that it makes it easier for scammers to get in to accounts, and it's not just casual sellers doing it either. Even TM Stores do it.

Yeah they action the casuals much faster than stores. I think they give stores the chance to correct it themselves first or something. Or maybe it's because they know a listing tool is used, so pointless for Trade Me to edit the live auction. It seems like you have to report stores for weeks before TM will act. If they even do at all.

Just got to the limit. An error message in red flashed up but I was too slow to read it. Said something about the number of new announcements.... This was after 92 CWs, ie it happened on the 93rd. Tried again on a different listing, and same deal.

Looks like it might be a limit per calendar day rather than 24 hours, as just managed to CW more now, which is inside 24 hours since last ones. The new ones in my fav search email this morning I had actually already CWd yesterday, so will do todays from saved search live.
