UNABLE TO EDIT THE CATEGORY FOR THE AUCTION LISTING TO APPEAR IN
When I'm going back to edit an auction listing, the template won't allow me to alter the category it is in? I have tried to do this with other auctions, that weren't listed tonight, & there doesn't seem to be a problem. Is there a known problem or if you've put something in an 'Other' category are you unable to alter the category it appears in? A new problem to me.

Kia Ora marriott76,
Yes! there is a known issue with editing a live listing to change the category,
Added statement by TradeMe to the Editing a live listing Help file...
Adding a Buy Now and editing the category isn’t available on all listings
If you want to add a Buy Now or change the category you've listed in, you'll need to create a new listing with the correct information instead of editing.
Learn more about why this feature isn't available and how we're upgrading some of our systems.- Cheers.

Thank you for your response & it's helpful to know that but crikey that's a nuisance.

Come categories cannot be changed due to different pricing structures

I wouldn't have thought there were different pricing structures within the books category. It seems hard to fathom that you can't move from Non-Fiction - Other to Non-Fiction - New Zealand or anything else within the book category? Surely that hasn't got anything to do with pricing structures? Is there a premium paperback category I'm unaware of?

Yes you are correct, but to be fair you didnt mention which catagory you were trying to change

I'm trying to edit a listing by moving a book from the Non-Fiction - Other category to the Non-Fiction - New Zealand category.

Have you tried both ways? (App and desktop)
I don't think it applies in this case, but sometimes if it doesn't work on one system you can get it to work on the other.

I have just found out that one can't change the category once listed.
Trade Me Say's : " If you want change the category you've listed in, you'll need to create a new listing with the correct information instead of editing. " Do they charge for removing a listing, if so, also means having to pay again to add photo. What a backward step. Who's dreaming up this stuff. Don't fix the bridge if it's not broken. Leave well alone.

Hello jantje. Yes, for some items this is not currently available. If you are charged a withdraw fee you can contact Trade Me to get that credited again. Likewise if you have paid any premium promo fees. Often it's just easier to reduce the listing time and relist it it correctly when it closes. Photos are free, so I guess you are meaning you paid for a promo of some kind?

Yes, it's rubbish and they do charge for withdrawing/ending an auction early. My advise would be to alter your auction to be clearly labelled a LISTING ERROR, remove all photographs & meaningful description & let it run for the shortest possible duration of time. While this shell of a listing is running to its inevitable point of not selling, list in it's intended category & how you wanted for the listing to originally appear.

Kia Ora jantje,
It depends on which category you've listed in, not all categories are charged a withdrawal fee, you can check your item for any fees through the Help file I'll link below for you. - All Listings withdrawn within the first hour of Listing are free of charge and any Listing fees paid are returned to your TradeMe account. - All the Best.
