Trust and honesty.
AnsweredI recently won an item (turntable)on a dollar reserve auction, that the seller stated "just want this gone" He then wouldn't sell me the item. This same item has been re listed more than once, so I left negative feedback. I got trademe involved, and I see they have removed his awful retaliatory feedback without me even having to ask. He now say's he will honour the trade but wants me to remove the negative feedback first, I only stated trader wouldn't honour trade. Should I trust this seller and remove the feedback, as once that feedback is removed, subsequent feedback can no longer be placed.

Kia Ora Ronald,
Sorry to read of the runaround and disappointment you've been through with this Trade,
I think you have answered your own question there! - What is the purpose of Feedback if it doesn't accurately reflect the true trading experience for Future Members dealing with this person?
Accolades to TM for taking swift care of that retaliatory Feedback for you - Cheers. 😊

I would not recommend removing the feedback first, like S said.

Definitely not Ronald. If you remove that feedback that's it, your chance is gone. What will you do if the seller then still doesn't send the item? Then you've lost the item, your money, and the chance to warn others. If you really insist on continuing to trade with someone like that you should definitely leave the feedback until you have the item and are completely happy with it.

Do not remove your Feedback, edit it after trade has been completed, but not before
Asking you to remove it first, is blackmailing you, Tell them you will edit feedback after trade has been completed,
Trade me will back you up on that, they do not take that behaviour lightly,
I have had same stunt pulled on me, Seller has since been disabled I have seen, I refused to delete feedback,
he refused to sent item I had paid for, until I had, it was Blackmail, I not only did not get item I also did not get my money back,
this was a couple of years ago,
Do not play their silly games ever, how many others have they pulled this stunt on and get away with it?

It's actually written in the TradeMe guides Problem with your purchase...

Thanks for the advice, I just wanted to corroborate my own thoughts. Subsequently the trader put the turntable up in a special auction for me, (yesterday) which I paid for with ping. Interestingly this was not under the same name as the traders original one, an alter ego thing I guess, same trader, different name. And the trader is still refusing to send the item until I remove the negative feedback ... which I will not do. Hopefully if it falls flat again I will be able to recoup my money, as it was through ping. Might have to go back to Trademe ... again.

Kia Ora Ronald,
TradeMe will be very interested in hearing if this Trader is running 2 accounts which is only permitted through having 1 Personal account and 1 Business account of which should show the 'In Trade' status - if there is no In Trade status the duplicate accounts should be reported to TradeMe staff along with the Blackmail emails you've received there - Cheers.

Have just looked, one is in trade, the other personal. The personal one has 75 percent feedback rating. Seems used more as a buying tool.

As S mentioned it is OK to have 2 accounts, Personal and Business. However there is a requirement that you can't sell the same item on both accounts. So they'll get frowned at for that as well.......
"Anyone can create a personal account, as long as you don’t have one already. Anyone can also create a Trade Me business account, but the two accounts need to be kept completely separate. This means that things like listings and feedback aren’t transferable, and belong to the account from which they originate."
