Selling an item previously won on Trade Me

If you left them a feedback, you can access the wording for the old auction through that feature.
I would warn you against using the exact description, you have used it in the mean time, so you will need to update any condition issue.
But also ethically - to copy and paste would be plagiarism, seller work very hard at their content creation, if you did a straight copy and paste of someoneles work you may cause offense with the original creator, certainly use it for inspiration, but I wouldn't do a direct copy.

Exactly what I was thinking, someone did that to me last year, won an auction, a few weeks later copied all my text etc.
and even used my photos, so exactly the same, plagiarism, Trade Me actually pulled it,
I nearly had a heart attack when I thought my sold item had accidentally been relisted, but it was not my auction,
they even copied my customized Trademarks, which stand out, as they will never been found together on any internet site,
I had to make it as some straight out copying my headings, and to this day they still do, but use my old format,
other can be picked up straight away,
but other cases Trade Me have given sellers time to edit their auctions removing my photos, text etc. which does not happen before they are sold, The old days they use to remove photos if you proved they were yours,

Thanks for your replies , won’t copy exactly it just talked about the history of the piece and how they had improved it from its earlier condition It has been very well cared for . I’m not out to upset anyone .

Kia Ora Belinda,
If you happened to pay using Ping you could also search your Ping transaction online in your 'My TradeMe' around the date(s) of purchase Or If you have saved TradeMe emails that is another option - Cheers.

Nice one Belinda - Good for you! If you have a piece that does have some historical significance, then it is important that this history is preserved.
Good luck with your auction - I hope it goes well for you :-)

Hi Belinda, thanks for posting this. As already said and like you understand, so long as you just use the previous description as inspiration for your own words, that's all good. You can't copy someone else's listing or photos, but grabbing the general info from there is fine.
If you didn't manage to find it through feedback or a Ping reference, if you have the listing reference, you can pop it in the search bar to surface the closed auction. If you don't have that info, get in touch with us directly and we can help you to find it.0
