Trade Me Tip – No contact from the seller – what now?
PinnedIt’s so exciting when you’ve been the winning bidder on an item you’ve been after, so we understand it can be disappointing when you don’t hear from the seller as quickly as you’d like. Always remember to check your Junk or Spam folder in case any messages have been filtered out of your inbox. Still no contact? Let us know.

Cheers Tony,
Great you have options available. Keep a hold of the Listing's purchase details, closed Listings drop off the site at 45 days and with all of your communication I hope you get a result asap. - All the Best!

Kia Ora Joseph,
How long has it been since you made the purchase?
How long ago did you last email your Seller?
- Have you checked your spam / junk folder in case an email has ended up there?
- Have you sent your address for Delivery through TradeMe?
- Have you checked your Won items to see if a Courier tracking has been applied?
- If it's been a few days have you placed Feedback yet? - This normally gains a response.
Feedback can ask your Seller to check their Email spam / junk folder as you have emailed them a couple of times and to please contact you.If you have no response to your email or feedback placed you will want to select the Dispute Resolution Tab in your Won items Or from within the closed Listing itself in the Top portion of the page under 'Next steps' for TradeMe's assistance.
As you have paid by Afterpay you may be eligible for Buyer Protection if the Dispute is filed within the first 30 days of the listing closing. - TradeMe confirm the Refund to Afterpay who then refund you.
Is your Seller 'In Trade'? - Is it possible this is a registered business company? If you think they may be you can look them up on the NZ Companies Register to possibly obtain contact telephone number(s) and physical address.
As it is the weekend is it possible you may hear from your seller tomorrow, Monday 30 December 2024? - Is there any note on your Seller's account or the Listing stating when business resumes following this holiday period?
I hope your Seller is well and you hear from them soon - Cheers.

My item has a 2 years warranty. I got the item for a relative. When my relative died, I got the item back and contacted the seller regarding the fact that the item was NOT as described. But, the seller never contacted me back. Also, the item has been playing up and it still under warranty. What do you recommend I do ?

So contacting Trade Me after a seller doesn't send or refund is a waste of time if you pay via online banking. All they do is contact the seller, which is exactly what I have been doing, and then email back and say they haven't responded so sorry out of luck at buyers end. What a waste of time trade me and I have no product and no refund. Useless

Kia ora Anita and Brent, sorry to hear that you've had this experience on the site. Most trades are completed without any issues, sometimes there are genuine reasons why completing a trade quickly can't happen. We recommend that buyers use Ping so that if a trade doesn't pan out, they are covered by Buyer Protection for eligible purchases.
