Banned from Trade me

Hi,

I was about to take possession of an item when the seller texted me an told me that I had been banned by Trademe, and therefore the purchase could not be made. Just wondering why this is, because I have more than enough funds to purchase of the item and there were no banned products.

Can you ask your Seller for evidence of this, your account is up and running, if TradeMe require any information from you to verify your account they will have emailed you directly. Verification can be asked of New Members and depending on the Sale price of item however if this was a cash on pick up there's no reason why this trade shouldn't have gone ahead. If you've paid by Ping or Afterpay the payment may be held whilst verification is processed though again you will have received an email from TradeMe with any requirements therefore check your spam/junk email folder as well incase one from the company has gone there. - Can you see the item in your won items or is this a classified listing?

I smell a bit of BS here. The trader may or may not have been banned from TM (check his feedback page and it will say disabled if he is) but it still does not stop the trade being completed between yourselves. Is ping available to pay, if so then he is not banned. I suspect seller just does not want to complete for what ever reason. If you were paying another way then that could of course be an issue as if you put through payment and he dont want to complete, you have no protection as ping gives. Unless of course it is a cash on pickup situation where it is safe.

The Seller has told the OP that they as the Buyer are banned. - The OP is a New Member with 0 feedback and their account is up & running. - Either the Seller is pulling a fast one to cancel the trade or they've had an email not to release the item(s) yet as a payment method of Ping or Afterpay verification is being carried out. - Cheers.
