Why does TM let buyers write more than 30 characters in delivery instructions?
This is so frustrating. I got this today as a delivery instruction.....
" Please leave box in front of the small gate if no one is home to receive the parcel if the dogs are not outside please feel free to sit the box at the front door, otherwise please put in mailbox if it fits, thank you."
Now I have to spend my time cutting this down to 30 characters, and that includes spaces! I end up having to do this quite often, surely TM can make it that the buyer can only enter 30 characters....why let them ramble on when it can't be used?

Does seem like a sensible idea Mark.
Not everyone uses Trade Me's Book A Courier though. For me it's not an issue. I can just print a separate label to slap on the package if a buyer writes me a novel.
Can you put it back on the buyer and tell them to fix it up? That way they will learn for future purchases that it's a problem for some sellers.

I also agree with you Mark. But bear in mind that most couriers are just going to leave in the letterbox anyway - unless the parcel is signature-required. I just handwrite any lengthy instructions on the label.

Yes, I one a couple of weeks ago, it was don't leave in Rain don't leave in Letter box, don't etc etc........
I had to ask buyer to name a pacific safe spot for parcel to be left, otherwise it maybe left where you cannot find it,
As I had one years ago do not leave in Letter box, parcel was delivered not received because they could not find it, found it over a week later in gumboot by door, wasted a lot of my time contacting courier filing claim etc.
Please people nominate your safe zone, in simple text,
I had one 212 characters long a couple of years ago, I printed that one out Lol!, but no we should have not too,

This Character limit also applies in feedback. If you any reason you need to write a long feedback, it lets you do so and then when its posted, the feedback is reduced to what ever character limit TM impose. So you now have a feedback with a load of text missing, and the whole context of the feedback is meaningless as only part of the feedback is showing. Admittedly, its not often I write a super long feedback, but TM need to fix this so the writer can only insert the amount of characters in the feedback that will be eventually displayed on the feedback.

At least on the desktop site it still does tell you there is a 500 char limit to feedback.

I'm like Callum and just print out a separate label if there's a small novel in delivery instructions.
