Hi, I am over 70, so please help me sort this. All the pics on Trademe have disappeared. How do I get them back? This happened this afternoon.

Hello Janna. This will be something specific to you
A few questions for you:
Are you using the website or your phone / app?
Which pictures exactly have disappeared?
Have you tried a reset to see if that helps?

I am using my laptop, my phone is fine. All the pics that people upload to Trademe have disappeared, other sites are fine. Yes I did a reset and nothing has happened.

Kia ora Janna, sorry to hear about the trouble you're having seeing photos on the site. Which browser are you using and are you able to see photos if you use a different browser - Chrome for example? You can also try the tips on here under "Browser troubleshooting" and if that doesn't work get in touch with the team on live chat, ask to "talk to a person".

Hi Janna, Callum, Michelle.
, same problem here -just recently ALL images from Trademe emails have dissapeared from my MS Outlook 2013 desktop email program. only trademe emails are affected 'BOTH NEW AND OLD EMAILS, trademe is on my 'white list/safe senders' i have followed all recommended potential fixs relating to clearing caches/reseting defaults/deleting temp files/etc.etc... i have exhausted all options.
Same trademe emails viewed online via web mail are fine /BUT try viewing emails via desktop 'outlook' no images. not 1, no headers, no trademe images at all. and not just new trademe emails -all my downloaded trademe emails too.
Seeing someone else with the same issue -this is created by whatever trademe has done recently -this is not an end user fault. Trademe has somehow blocked our old desktop email programs from seeing/accessing images from trademe emails.
i repeat -THIS IS NOT THE END USERS FAULT NOR THEIR COMPUTER OR SOFTWARE. This is a problem created from trademes end -another dumb update which has blocked our access to the images trademe store online that are loaded everytime we would attempt to open and view our email -it is affecting images/header etc only. Text & links are fine.
(PS, i am technially able and have some reasonable knowledge -way past front line tech support /but i am not a programmer.)
Janna, it is not your fault /nor is your computer or software at fault -Trademe is soley responsible for this issue.

I would have to disagree Ethan. I use eMclient as my desktop email and have no problem seeing images from known sources. Your problem of not being able to see images is not a problem Trademe can fix, but is one you can. This a common problem that I came across several years ago when I was using Outlook for a few years at work. I can't remember which setting I changed, but the thousands of other people that have asked the same question of google, show there are several ways to correct it. Google can't see pictures in outlook 2013.

I think Janna's issue was different Ethan. She didn't mention anything about Outlook or email. Just that she couldn't view photos on Trade Me, and other websites were OK. Maybe she could come back and confirm.
I'd agree with Gary, I really don't think it would be possible for Trade Me to somehow block pictures going to a particular email client. You will need to firstly look at your settings at your end.

Ok, I stand corrected then.
Just my dissapeared images coincided with Janna's posting time'ish. I have reset everything i can find, internet options, outlook options /ticked on ticked off/deleted and redid whitelist, deleted caches, checkdisk'ed the drive for any faults without error. temp del system files forcing file rebulids, hunted registery, all to no result. it is only trademe's emails -including historic emails on the computer which 'all access trademes online servers for images'. i tested outer business's emails i subscribe to and can block and unblock without issue. so the fault is solely with trademe emails images 'all' images with trademe emails.
It pissed me off and i guess i have given up looking for the problem.
trademe has been having huge ongoing problems with 'sending out emails' in the past months -'trades done' not even receiving any comfimations nor payment detail emails etc. i know its not my end that is the problem. i have just taken to working around the problem and contacted sellers directly from the online sold page details -which is unnessacy hassle
Trademes changes over the past year to optimise for mobile/desktop platforms and whatever their dev team is doing still 'suck' with onging and new issues in many places, and ongoing changes are still constantly 'ongoing' and the last serveral times i chatted to the offical trademe's tech support -received lip service with no followup, no result and no fixs or change -so why bother -i have friends still in the tech industry and i know that they laugh when i mention this stuff 'get a new computer and buy into the pay as you go app world' like them they say.. why are you still using that they ask.. buy a new this.. etc etc.
My two laptops Windows and Office pro/Outlook are no longer supported by Microsoft, so no updates to stay current with 'todays' coding -im not moving to Office 365, i wont keep paying for something i already own, even my other windows 10 laptop is considered obslolete, even thou it was a well spec'd 10core 64gb gaming laptop and only a few years old -so whatever changes occur i just have to 'suck it up' unless i choose to keep replacing hardware and software options and do everything online constantly. i see that even my phn will no longer be supported in the coming future -trying to force the market to consume to stay up with tech with no backward compatibily for old tech.
so i have been moving my shopping to other sites instead and have been using trademes service less and less -because this site now sucks badly in comparison with how nicely it was running before they 'roled out their updated site services' which is just this old mans loss at the end of the day.. dissapointing as its nice to have access to local markets to shop from.
appologies for the ramble from a frustrated grumpy old man :)

Yes. I hear you Ethan. Planned obsolescence is indeed a thing. And more and more people are becoming frustrated with it. There are perfectly functional older iphones that can't even access Trade Me at all now.
People, especially of an older generation, get justifiably angry that the "latest thing" they spent a lot of money on just a few years ago is no longer good enough.
The big tech juggernauts will tell you it's a safety and security issue. But most can see through that thinly disguised excuse. The reality is to get you to continuously buy more of their stuff.
