Parcel stolen outside my front door

Kia Ora Jacqui,
Sorry to read of your experience with parcel theft, this does seem to be on the rise,
Unfortunately your option is to report the theft to your local Police - Possibly you are not the first in your area to have experienced this thereby your report may assist with a possible theft trail here for the Police investigations. - Anyone in your area, your neighbours may have a CTV Security system which has possibly caught these parcels being uplifted.
Coming forward you may want to set up a Safe Place with the courier companies where they are able to leave your parcels other than your front door.
Your Seller is not liable for theft of parcels - this is beyond there control, they can only assist with the correct delivery of parcels which in your case has happened. - Cheers.

I'm stating the obvious, but I'm sure you have already checked with any others in your house that they didn't bring the parcel in and forget they had done so? Sometimes even neighbours have been known to do a good deed and take a parcel for safekeeping.
S's idea of checking the area for cameras is good. Many now do have them. It would be worth getting one for yourself. They are getting better and cheaper all the time. If you have been targetted successfully once, the nefarious element might try their luck again.

As S said,
Seller is not liable if proven delivered, they have completed their end of contract formed when bidding on an auction,
You need to set up a safe zone for parcels to be left out of sight, and provide delivery Instructions, Which can include please knock, so if you are home you can get parcel immediately from door, one of my drivers leaves mine in my safe Zone as per delivery instructions, but also off his own back always knocks too, so if customer is home they can retrieve it asap, as most couriers know they get followed & have been followed, hence on a couple of occasions, Both my NZ Post and Aramex Couriers have swapped out vehicles for unmarked ones, and changed the order of their routes around on their rounds,
Yes, I have had a buyer come back, said their parcel was delivered & left letter box with photo, but when they got home it was gone / not there and wanted a full refund?, if we straight out refunded like this, more people would not be getting their parcels and say stolen, so in these instances once proven delivered, no refund, which I clearly state on my auctions, as some will still try,

Thanks. I do provide secure delivery instructions which you can do easily with NZ Post, but not all courier companies provide this. My front door area is quite well hidden and has a porch covering it, but it was obviously an opportunist walking past who decided to take his/her chances - saw the parcel & ‘uplifted’ it. Most of my parcels are left in my mailbox anyway. I have done many trades on here over the years and this is the first time this has happened, but will definitely look into getting a security camera. I understand the seller can’t be held liable in these situations.
