Still waiting for reply from Trade me re- statutory declaration
AnsweredHello I am still waiting for a reply from Trade me. I have sent them my statutory declaration requesting information on a seller who refuses to refund for an item I paid for and he has decided he can't send. This has gone way past 45 days so I can't post feedback either. Is there a phone number I can ring?

Hi Stuart. No, TradeMe turned off their phones a long time ago.
You can use Live Chat to contact them.
From memory it does take a while for address details to come through from TM after the declaration is made. Maybe 2 weeks or so? Is it still done via snail mail? It was when I did my last one, but that was a few years back.

I had to do one 2 weeks ago and although the email from TM initially said it could take up to 30 days to give me the info, I actually received an email with the sellers address etc 2 days later so I could lodge the DT proceedings, which I did, and now have a court date for the end of next month.

It's a joke, they would not release address details for the one I applied for, as seller did not want them released to me??,
seriously, since when does the seller have a say in this?,
they should not even know until they get notified, they do the crime they should face the consequences?,
only option left is to go to Police, Trade Me seriously failing us now, we do not get all the protection we used to,
But then again, I think some of the staff are dam useless, and seem dodgy themselves,

I thought Trademe were required to release details when requested to via the courts or a Statutory Declaration? although I do see they say it is at their discretion. I suppose Police is the only way forward.

I had one where TM wouldn't release the details. But in that case they just credited me the refund directly instead. (They didn't have to, it wasn't technically covered by buyer protection.) It was less than $100 though. I wondered at the time if they didn't release the details because they knew or suspected that the info they had on file were fake or out of date?

Hi Graeme. Difficult to understand your post completely, but if you think you should be due a refund or replacement and the seller is not responding you can absolutely try. Just hit "Dispute resolution" on the right hand side of the page for that item when looking at your Items won page.
If you want to read what you are and are not covered for that is explained in the help file at the link below

Ho Graeme. The Dispute Resolution button you find on the right of your "Won" page. It won't be there if the time limit has passed though.
To contact Trade Me use Live Chat. Go to Contact Us at the bottom of any page (including this one) the blue chat bubble will then appear. There won't be anyone there now, I will add a picture from the help page which shows how it works and what the hours are.
