Completing an auction. Seller delayed in sending postage costs
AnsweredHow do i complete an auction where the seller was delayed in sending postage costs. Then requested my address, where they should be prepared with this info when listing the item. Rural or non- rural prices. Seller has been rude & demanding. Unfortunately I've had health & medical issues that took my time away from this as well. I want to complete the auction & buy the item that I won. Help please.

Hello H. How long has it been since you purchased the item? What are they being demanding about?
This is always an issue when you purchase items with postage "to be arranged." If the seller hasn't got the shipping costs listed on the auction it's a good idea to ask first before bidding or buying.
Also some sellers don't seem to be aware of the Trade Me book a courier system so you could perhaps point that out to them. Often when I ask for postage costs people will answer "I don't know sorry, will have to go to the Post Office and ask." This can cause delays. Especially for sellers working a 9-5 normal job.
Hopefully they reply to you soon with the shipping costs. If you haven't already you can leave positive feedback reminding them that you still haven't got the shipping costs.

There is another option for you here, you could just get the seller to package the item for you, then they email you the package size H X W X D and weight, and leave it out on the back porch or somewhere, and then you book a courier to go and collect it yourself, if the seller is having trouble sorting out the cost, then take the situation out of their hands.
In fairness to your seller, if they are trying to sort out shipping cost, then they will need your address, they are going to need it anyway to put onto the parcel, you could just tell them?

H, the usual steps when buying when the auction did not have stated delivery costs would be, either ask before buying so it's all clear before buying, or after you have won, send your address to the seller and ask them to let you know delivery cost. It's all very well saying the seller should have emailed you the delivery cost options, but without knowing your delivery address it's a bit of a stab in the dark as many couriers have different areas so what's rural for one, isn't for another and visa versa. Lots of work to sort out every option when knowing your address before working out cost would make things simple.
Not stage things are up to with the deal now, but it may take a day or so for the seller to get back to you with packaging cost as if you are not picking up, they will need to pack before they can get quotes for delivery. You've given them your address so hopefully they can get back to you shortly.
