Received Trade Me email asking for my bank verification code

I did a buy now and paid via credit card. I received an email supposedly from Trade Me asking for a 4 digit verification code from my bank statement. I have never had this before and don't know if its a security risk or not. I have tried contacting Trade Me twice now but haven't had any response to date.

EditedKia ora, Our Trust and Safety team do perform checks on first-time or large Ping payments. The code they've requested will be attached to a 1-cent deposit into the bank account your payment was made from. Here's the Help page explaining the process in more detail
