I think I've been accidentally blacklisted
AnsweredHi there, I'm trying to buy a restored wooden box from a seller. Went to hit 'Buy Now' and it says the seller has blacklisted me. I'm a responsible user and haven't done anything silly or stupid. Could it be a mistake? How do I get off the blacklist? I would like to buy the item he is selling.

Kia Ora Clinton,
Sorry to read that's happened,
There can be many reasons why a Seller may feel the need to do this and no one but the Seller can tell you why. Refer to Post: Blacklisted by a seller I have never seen – Help - Trade Me - which has some helpful advice - Cheers.

Hi Clinton. There is no way you can find out why unfortunately. Reasons for blacklisting are almost as infinite as stars in the sky. Believe or not someone on here once said they blacklist every single watcher that doesn't buy the item. Because they annoy him!
The reason will be known to the other member only. About your only option is to ask someone else with a TM account to ask the seller why on your behalf. Or even ask them to purchase the item for you.

I know this is an old thread, but Seriously TM should remove the Blacklist option, it is akin as to be tresspassed from a physical store , it is too easy for sellers to Blacklist individuals just because they are annoyed?... I have a pretty good 100% feed back,My story :so I did a buy now on some hearing aids a while back, seller sends the wrong ones, called them out as it was not the exact ones as advertised on the image, packaging was definitely not the same, anyway after threatening them with reporting to trademe, i got a full refund, told me to keep these hearing aids(which i wanted to return to them as it was a rubbish brand) .anyway months Iater I got onto buying hearing aids from another seller on TM, well guess what? They send the exact same hearing aids as the last seller (once again not the same as the one display on the image..I was furious, it was dejavu all over again, anyway same process got refunded and told me to keep theses rubbish hearing aids, since then i have gone onto other sellers TMpages looking to purchase hearing aids only to be blacklisted from their page , I have never bought anything from them, it seems like these sellers are selling their goods from the same warehouse/building but have multiple user accounts as I am currently blacklisted from a number of TM sights selling hearing aids...What are the rules regarding this situation?

Jenny, there are no rules about blacklisting, so sellers and buyers have the right to blacklist any other member they choose to. Your only other option may be to ask a family member or friend to use their account to buy for you, but given your experiences I would be asking questions before buying again. Maybe along the lines of...Hi, I am really interested in buying these but have bought others elsewhere several times and been sent something different each time. Are you selling the actual ones as shown in photos and description? Many thanks. If someone then blacklists you after that q, then you have been saved another disappointement.

Jimmy. If you think the seller is actually the same person with different accounts it could be worth reporting that to Trade Me. Sellers are allowed more than one account on application but they must be not selling the same items across different accounts.
To muddy the waters there are central warehouse type places that then farm out the selling of their items to various different members. So the members set the prices and make the listings. The warehouse provides fulfilment of orders, and maybe photos as well. This could explain what is happening here. The sellers generally don't ever handle or see the items they are selling. But rely on the info provided by the fulfilment centre. Technically I don't think these ones are in breach of any TM rules. They are all different members. But fulfilment is provided centrally. The sellers essentially just get a clip on the ticket for linking up the sale with a buyer.
Given that you have been blacklisted by sellers that you have never dealt with, it might be worth highlighting that to Trade Me. So they can investigate if they are really the same person.
