Blacklisted by a seller I have never seen
AnsweredHi folks. A seller has black listed me (which must have been accidental), as I have never come across this seller before. Please can anyone help, as I am interested in buying from her. I have never been blacklisted by anyone and can’t ask her through one of her auctions - because being blacklisted, it appears I can’t ask on her auctions. My own Trademe rating is 99.9%. Thanks for your help

Hi Sally. You are not allowed to bring attention to other members on here like this, so it might pay to edit your post and have a read of the Community Guidelines. I've seen posts before where people have been blacklisted for asking a question, watching an item and not buying it, not giving a reply to accept or decline to a fixed price offer, being outbid by you on something, all of which seem pretty petty to me, but each to their own. It used to be quite common on the old messageboard for members to be blacklisted for comments they had made that others didn't agree with, but now the Community here doesn't use membernames, the ability to do that is gone.
You may be able to troll through their feedback and find another trader that you have traded with and email them to ask if they would ask a Q to get you un-blacklisted or to get a reason for it, but you may not get a reply. Most people on here have no idea what your Trademe name is, so we can't even ask a question on your behalf either.

Thanks Gary for your message, appreciated. Oh dear, I don’t know how to edit my post. Please can you help, as I want to delete sellers name quickly. This seller, I have never seen their name before, and haven’t been buying these types of items. Thanks again

All good, sometimes it can be a bit of a mystery as to why someone is blacklisted. You could also just email a friend, relative, or someone you know that has a Trademe account and ask them to ask a Q on your behalf, or even buy on your behalf. Good luck.

Thanks again Gary. Definitely helpful suggestions. I will ask a friend to ask a message on one of her auctions. Didn’t know blacklisting existed either, so leaving something every day. :)

Kia Ora Sally, maybe it's best to ask your friend if she will purchase for you rather than ask ? which could get them blacklisted by this Seller also which may not go down too well - Just a suggestion - Cheers.

I've blacklisted not many at all but could be 3 or maybe 4 traders who I've not traded with but have had communication through listing enquiries, might be my own or their listings and have found them to be too-TOO pushy, finickity, childish/bad mannered. Just to highlight that having traded previous is not always a factor for making it into another traders blacklist!

Hi Julia. This particular person. I haven’t had any interaction with before. I certainly respect each individual’s right to comment or make any decision they choose to. I am sure they have accidentally blacklisted me, rather than the person they meant to. Hoping they may realise… All good, I will purchase elsewhere. Thanks for responding with your tips of wisdom, appreciated

I just got blacklisted for absolutely no reason. I asked a polite question to a seller a little while ago and they happily answered no complaints there, and I’ve only watch listed this specific item twice as I’m saving up to get it, but now I’m black listed and can’t buy it from my account?! This is so annoying I did absolutely nothing wrong.

Kia Ora Lara,
No one but the Member themselves will be able to answer why they may have Blacklisted you. Some Sellers feel watchers are timewasters, it's unfortunate there is not a Wishlist we can place these items into whilst we're saving up for them that doesn't impact on the Seller's ability of sale but rather notifies them there is interest - Blacklisting can also be a complete accident in some cases - TradeMe don't ask for or require this information. A friend or family member may be willing to place a bid or purchase goods from this Seller for you if you really want something they have Listed, just be mindful of not putting them in a situation where they may become blacklisted also. - Cheers.
