Great Barrier Island Shipping
I have a parcel (medium sized courier bag) that is going to be shipped to Great Barrier Island. Pass the Parcel/Post Haste have always had a note on their website that says they don't deliver to the Hauraki Gulf Islands, yet the booking page will accept a Great Barrier Island address. Can anyone confirm that they have changed their policy on this and I am fine to ship this parcel via them?
My second question is regarding NZ Post. When I popped the address for Great Barrier Island into Book a Courier to obtain a price it showed a non-rural option for shipping a medium bag as well as a rural option. Is this an error as I have checked via NZ Post's website and Great Barrier Island seems to always incur a rural delivery charge of $5.50 on all of the shipping options offered?

Although PTP do accept Greatt Barrier Island addresses, they should normally come with the rural/out of area surcharge saying Note: This address is a Rural / Non-Urban location and will attract a service fee. ie They will hand it over to NZ Post for the final delivery.
I don't use BAC usually, but I just put the same address I used on PTP in the usual NZ Post booking system I use and yes, that comes up with both RD and non RD, but when I choose the non RD option and go through the booking, it adds on the RD charge anyway.
If I use that same address on BAC it only comes up with the RD one using the autocomplete, so it maybe does depend on the actual address.

Thanks Gary. Yes, the rural delivery/out of area surcharge is showing for PTP. I have emailed PTP to confirm it is fine to send, but have had no reply.
I don't use the BAC usually either, and I think the software has just tried to find a close match to my own delivery price and so offered up the non-rural option. With NZ Post's website all the options had the RD charge applied.

I thought I would update this post as I have spoken with Pass the Parcel this morning and they do not deliver to Great Barrier Island. The website is accepting the address in error. If I had sent the parcel it would have been held and returned to me.
