Charged twice for item
Hello
I just bought an item on Trade Me using Ping. When I hit the "confirm purchase" button I had the following response come up: "error completing purchase, you are not connected to the internet". So therefore I tried again and the same "error" response came up. However when I refreshed the page it said "congratulations on your purchase" twice and it transpired that I had bought the same item twice.
I have emailed the seller to inform them that I only wanted one unit of the item I was buying, but would appreciate if Trade Me could cancel the second Ping transaction for the erroneous second purchase as it was due to a glitch in the system telling me that the transaction had not been successful and not due to any fault at my end.
Thank you

Hi Ned. I get a few of these as a seller. I think the fastest way is to do as you say, contact the seller. They will be able to refund the ping payment for you.

Russell, you are talking here to other members, not Trademe themselves. If the seller is not refunding when you have paid them twice, you need to contact Trademe. See this discussion..

Sometimes in the past I used to get situations where the buyer had paid twice via ping (or even multiple times.) The buyer got an error message at checkout so did it again. And again, and again in some cases. However I, as the seller only got one payment. Haven't had that for a very long time though so I was thinking that particular glitch had been sorted.
If you have paid twice via ping Ned, it would be Trade Me who needs to refund one of your payments rather than the seller.

Kia Ora Barbara,
Basic listings are free to relist however Promotional & Optional extras, including Standard + Premium listings are charged again if these are chosen on the relist. - It comes down to Category and Listing type. - You can check the fee's charged to you in your account statement for confirmation - Cheers.
