Unable to ask questions on seller's listings
AnsweredThere is a seller whose listings I can't ask questions on. When I submit a question it says 'You are unable to use this feature'. I can ask questions on other sellers' listings, just ones to this seller are blocked.
They have over 500 feedbacks, highly rated. They keep relisting a particular item I want but I can't ask key questions about it, it is highly frustrating.
Seeing no questions on any of their listings makes me think no-one is able to question them.
This seems like a bug?
I wish Trademe would provide an actual help contact instead of just directing you in endless circles to useless help articles.
(A search found that this question has been asked before but no solution was given by Trademe)

This usually happens when the Seller has Blacklisted you from asking questions & Bidding on their auctions. Your Blacklist – Help - Trade Me
A person can be blacklisted for many reasons - Not accepting or declining a FPO - A bad Trading experience with a friend or family Member etc. - You may never learn why - Cheers.

I've watched one of their auctions but that is it! I also have 100% positive feedback and I've never dealt with this seller before so I don't see any reason to have been blacklisted by them.

Yes Ella, this is often the case - that's why it can be a real mystery as to the Seller's choice here. If you are really keen on an item of theirs you may like to ask a friend or family member to ask your questions and bid/purchase for you perhaps - Cheers.

Hi Ella if you have been blacklisted by the seller for some reason when you try to ask a question on their listing you will be informed you have been blacklisted by the seller. There is a chance the seller has had their Q&A privileges suspend by Trade Me for breaching their terms and conditions like listing contact details in the Q&A section etc.
To contact Trade Me directly simply go the Contact Us section at the bottom of any page click on it and wait a few seconds until a blue chat bubble pops up bottom right side of the screen (see the screenshot below) click on the chat bubble and you will be able to chat live with someone from Trade Me Customer Support they maybe able to advise you why you can't ask a question on the sellers listing or if it is a fault fix it for you.

I vaguely remember something like this happening a while ago, and what the story turned out to be, was that someone was selling an iPhone I think? And T Me had wanted the seller to provide proof of ownership, but didn’t close the auction, but somehow shut down the Q&A but the auction was still running, sorry this was a while ago now, and I may not have the story straight anymore, perhaps something like this is going on.

Hi everyone. There can be a few reasons why this would happen so it's hard to say for sure in this case. Being Blacklisted does mean that you can't ask questions, but this could be something else (such as us waiting for some additional information from the seller). Post: Whats gives Trademe? – Help - Trade Me is one you were awaiting further info' from the Seller on - in this case the Seller states she can't answer questions on her listings! Therefore indicating questions have been asked? - Cheers.

I was giving one example of many possible circumstances in my comment above, S. I'm not aware of that particular situation from that post and it was the right thing for that member to contact us directly about that.
When it comes to account restrictions and action that we take, for privacy reasons we're not able to share details.

They are selling shelves and clothing, it's the shelves I am interested in. I tried the live chat this morning and they couldn't help. I'm going to give up on these shelves and wait for more to come up.

Update on this situation - I asked someone I know to ask a question on the sellers' listing for me and they couldn't either. Definitely a problem with the seller, not a blacklisting situation. Unless they are able to turn off questions for everyone on TM, which I don't think is possible. Listing is #4095490799

Nah bs, ive come across an auction im interested in, have never interacted with the seller, yet i cant ask a question, get the blue circle appears and i cant send it, frustrating

There is every possibility TradeMe may have switched the Q&A section off on the Seller's side for any given reason. - They could even be waiting for some additional information from the Seller. - You can contact TradeMe staff through "Live Chat" for assistance, for Privacy reasons they won't be able to confirm what the issue is However they may indicate if further information is expected perhaps. - All the Best.

My Comment for you has gone into Pending Status awaiting a TradeMe staff member to clear - Meantime this is how it reads and if you type the word Contact into the Help search bar at the top of Community pages you get a Pop up menu appear which includes Contacting our Customer Experience > selecting that will take you to the Help page you want to read to get in touch with a Staff member - Cheers.
