What's the boundry of an International seller and Local seller?
HI, all. I am a local retailer. My business on trademe is good so far. I know that many potential customer want better price and willing to wait a longer time.
I want to register a new trademe account, specially for this kind of clients, to wholesale or individually pursue low price users. All items include gst/duty/international shipping and provide local warranty.
As my receiving account is still a nz local bank account, my warehouse is in Auckland. The only difference is that customers need to pay in advance and wait 4-7 weeks for shipment, so I don't know if I'm a registered local seller or an international seller。
I see that many sellers are international sellers, but their region selection is still local, it is only indicated in the product description. Although this is not a problem, there will still be some customers who do not look carefully and cause transaction disputes.
For me, if an overseas bank account is required, it will increase some operating costs and potentially reduce revenue due to exchange rate fluctuations. I just want to simply tell the clients:
1. The products you want to buy are from overseas, and the products will be received within 4-7 weeks after prepayment
2. The product are gst/duty included, provides local warranty.
3. I can receive money from a local bank account.
So what kind of seller account should I apply for?

Local seller doing drop shipping from overseas.
There are special terms and you must have written approval to drop ship by Trade Me

thanks for the quick response. But I think there are many difference between "Local seller doing drop shipping" and "pay in advance".
As saying in the term, 'Drop shipping occurs when a seller provides goods for sale to a buyer without ownership or possession of the goods'. We have 100% ownership and poccession of the products. their process no different from our local products, from supplier to my warehouse overseas, then to my Auckland warehouse through sea/air freight. The only different is customer should pay in advance and wait longer time. The process is similar to buying furniture locally, pay first, and then wait for two months to produce.
Is it possible that I directly register a local and then write it clearly in the product description.

In possession means they are here, right now, and you can physically put you hands on them. If the goods are overseas and you are here you are not 'in possession' of them by law. That is the definition of drop shipping.

In spirit it is drop shipping, to the customer it looks like drop shipping, it takes as long (if not longer) than drop shiping, the price is as if it is drop shipping.
You're a local seller drop shippig in my opinion. But whatever the case, you need to consult with Trade Me to get their determination.

Zhen. As has been mentioned, the dropshipping rules as defined for use on Trademe are quite clear and state "Drop shipping occurs when a seller provides goods for sale to a buyer without ownership or possession of the goods.
As yours is an unusual requirement as is not the normal way things are done in 99.9% of cases, you will have to contact Trademe FIRST and ASK them if this is allowed on their site. They will advise you if it is ok, and what sort of account you can set up. Just use the Contact us form at the bottom of any page, or the specific link to contact them on the Dropshipping T & C page.

Its a very good point, there are far too many auctions that come up as 'nz' but these people dont have any of the products in their auction in 'nz', they say 4 to 6weeks etc which mean they are NOT local. If someone doesnt hold the selling items in this country they are not a local supplier. Very simple.

ALL Trademe transactions are NZ bank account, sellers exchange rates are NOT the buyers or Trademe's problem.
Yes you can have another TM account to serve as a "drop shipping" account but it has to be an "Ïntrade" status.
The listing descriptions must clearly state the items are not stored in NZ & a clear estimate of delivery times is to be included.
Shipping charges are within NZ based, you can't supply overseas shipping prices.
All this must be confirmed with TM admin before you set up the account0
