Buyer didn't follow through with purchase - relisting from Sold
AnsweredThe buyer said that her daughter click buy now on my auction. She said that it was an accident and didn't want to buy my listing.
I had only just listed the item and have asked for a refund, (Trade me have confirmed that the refund was successful). Now I want to relist my item as I had already paid for but can't. Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi Lucy,
I tired that but then I'd have to pay to relist it again. I don't feel as though I should have to pay for relisting. Am I in the right here?

Hi Michael, if there is a listing fee, it sounds like it'd be a promotional extra being charged on the relist. I'll get the team to check this out and contact you via email

Hi Trev. See that 2nd post near the top of this page, and click on If the sale falls through, Make a fixed price offer. You can then choose any bidders or watches to send the offer to.

Hi Carlene. It's quite an automatic system for the seller to get their success fee refunded, however depending on what the item was, any other fees they may have paid are not refundable eg high volume listing fee, listing fee, promotion costs etc. It's common for buyers that make a mistake to offer to cover those fees as they can often be quite a bit, which could be why the seller is upset. We all make the odd boo boo and in fact I had to apologise to a seller on behalf of my wife the other week as she had bought something twice when she only wanted to do it once, but medication and health problems caused a bit of brain fade. The seller was sympathetic and understanding when I apologised and offered to cover any extra fees.

I have the same issue. A buyer says they clicked buy now by mistake on the first evening of the listing. However, when I came to relist it I have to pay but I am paying for the same extras I'd already paid for on the original listing. Seems unfair I have to pay again for a mistake made by a buyer.

Hi Tina, sorry to hear about the hassles with the trade. If you contact the team they will be able to refund the fees on the listing that was accidentally purchased

Auction ran to finish with no buyers. There is no relist option. Two of my other auctions ran to finish with no buyers. I just relisted them both with the relist option. I paid $109 to list my car. I need it relisted please.

Purchaser didn’t follow thru with buying as he didn’t have the money?! Refund sorted but I want to have caravan relisted with features I’ve paid for and for same time of night and watchlist advised …. But no system seems to be in place. Any suggestions? So frustrating!

Does anyone know the exact process for a sale not going through, I bought something that isn't compatible but no way of finding out till I hit buy now and email seller, so we agreed the sale won't proceed but how do I let tm know so he can get a refund?

Marlbra, you don't need to do anything. The seller starts the process. When the seller applies for a refund of the fees Trademe may or may not email you to confirm, depending on what option the seller chooses when applying for the refund. If you click on the confirm trade won't be going ahead link in the email Trademe sends you, or if you don't respond, the success fee is automatically processed to the seller.

I have a buyer who said she was coming to pay cash and collect in a week when she travels to my area. A week came this Saturday and when I contacted her she said to courier item, which was not an option on the listing, as she is no longer coming. I asked her to pay for the item first into my bank account and then I would take it to post shop to get courier price when she would have to pay me for that separately. She said she would pay but hasn't so I've asked for a listing refund through trade me. I see that she has no feedback whatsoever and want to warn others about her... she's been a member since 2021...but am thinking that she will give me bad feedback. I have 100% good feedback. Is there not a way that Trade Me can ban her or place a warning? I don't think it's fair that I should have to be the one who steps up if it's going to affect my trade.

I won a bid from a seller and am trying to get in touch with them to work out payment, but I have had no reply. Can they relist the product they’re selling to get more money for it?

Kia Ora Terevaeau,
Sorry to read your trouble there,
No! your Seller is not allowed to relist an already Sold item for more money and TradeMe will be very interested to hear if they have. - Firstly are you sure this is not a second item of the same product?
Have you Emailed your Seller Or sent a Message through the App site? It will pay to send an Email through as not all Sellers use the App Messaging.
You can then place Feedback for the Seller stating you have sent them emails Or messages through the App, for payment details, please check their spam/junk email folder Or App Messages and make contact with you.
As you have not heard back from your Seller you can select the Dispute resolution Tab in your Won items if this has been 7+ working days since the listing closed. All Trades are expected to be completed within 7 working days of the Listing closing.
You can also Select the Community Watch Link at the bottom of the relisted item to report this.
All the Best - Cheers.
