Buyer wants to view product
AnsweredI am selling some jewellery and have had a request to view it. Is this allowed? If so, how do we go about it? I thought we were not allowed to put contact details on the auction.
Thanks.

Nope, can't do that, ask them to talk to Trade Me, it's a Trade Me restriction.

Often what's done is to say It's not allowed to provide contact details for auctions, but if the item is not as described or not as per photos, then we can cancel the deal when you come to pickup, or you can return the item if sent for a full refund. Please feel free to ask any questions.

A buyer has asked for my phone number to call me to arrange to view my car? How do I arrange for a buyer to view my car without giving my phone number to everyone ?

You can't. Usually there is a special field for you to input your phone number in when creating the listing in the first place if you want to. If you didn't put one in then, you could try to edit the listing to add one. The advantage of having the phone number in the special field is that only logged in members can see it, so this reduces the chance of you getting scammed.

I posted in the other thread that started Betzy, but Lucy closed that one off just as I was pressing post comment so it didn't go through. Here is what I said.
Basically, you can't view before buying for something like that. You need to have a good description, lots of measurements and photos, accurate description of any faults and photos of those and you should be good to go. Some people may offer that if the sale goes ahead but on collection the buyer finds faults not listed or condition not as described then the trade can be cancelled with no hard feelings, but if you do want to offer something like that, be explicit with what you mean and detail it in the listing.

A buyer has posted a question on my listing, giving their phone number. They want to view the item.
If I reply, everyone will see their number. If I don’t then others will wonder why I haven’t answered.
Is there another way I handle it? Can TM edit their question so I can safely decline their request?0 -

Kia Ora Nigel,
Yes! TM staff can remove that detail for you - you can contact a Staff Member via "Live Chat" for immediate assistance with this in the morning.
The "Live Chat" hours weekdays are 8:am - 6:30pm and weekends 8:30am - 4:pmOnce you've selected the Contact us Chat Tab you need to give the landing page a count of 15+ seconds for the Chat Tab to Pop up in blue at the bottom right of your screen, there is a slight delay in this appearing. - Cheers.0 -
I am selling a car and a potential buyer has made an offer via text. If I accept, should I reset the buy now price and let them to know they can now proceed via TradeMe? I might wait for the auction though. Just want to know I am doing the right thing.

Kia Ora David,
There is no need for you to do anything but accept the Offer - Accepting the Offer closes the listing and payment instructions are sent as per usual.
The Help page you want to Refer to is Make an Offer
Congratulations on your Sale - Cheers 😊

Sorry, the offer was via text and lower than buy now price so I am thinking it should go through the TradeMe site first?

Cheers David,
An Auction you will want to change the Buy Now if you're Happy to accept the txt offer made - Ensure your Buyer is online before you lower it and risk a different person snapping it up - Cheers 😊
