Does adding tracking automatically send the buyer an email?

So I have sent an item & updated tracking on my sold page. Does the buyer automatically get an email saying that tracking has been added? Or should I email the buyer directly?
The courier was NOT booked through trademe.

No (as far as I know). I don't use BAC and will send every tracking to the buyer directly.

Gary-NZStocked Community SuperuserNo, the buyer only receives an email if you book via the sold auction, not when you manually enter a tracking number.
The manually entered tracking number is available to the buyer though, IF they look at their won items page.

Callum Community SuperuserNope as Gary said. No email sent. Recently TradeMe had a online meeting with me asking about things they could do to improve. This was one of the points I made. It seems a simple fix to me. It is already built in to BAC so it shouldn't be too difficult to generate an email from tracking numbers provided by the seller.
Maybe they are a bit reluctant to put their name to an email, when an unscrupulous seller could just add a fake tracking number. Can't do that with BAC.
