Deactivate in "My Products" and Listing still shows in "Items Im Selling"!!!...Heeeelp!!
AnsweredWhy does my listing still show in "Items Im Selling" when I have deactivated it in "My Products"? so what I do next is to Withdraw the Listing..then have to apply for a refund...surely, this is not how it works!!! I also hate the new layout...everytime I press My Trademe it takes me to the new layout with the categorys on the lefthand side...I try to go to My Products from their and it trys to get me to Sign in again as a new member!!! so annoying...then I have to logout and login again.....really painful...is anyone else having this issue? Can someone please advise what I should do?

That's exactly how it works, deactivating in My Products doesn't automatically withdraw the listing.

Yes, like Arthur says. Just like activating doesn't create a listing, deactivating doesn't withdraw a listing. It's been this way since My Products first came on the scene.
Deactivating simply stops the listing from relisting when the current listing closes, or sending out a fixed price offer, until you activate it again.
Activating in the list usually creates a listing on it's next update cycle (every 15-20 mins), unless you activate from within the product in which case a listing is created straight away.

Thanks for your quick replies...so I have to do what Ive been doing...withdraw the listing and ask for a refund of fee...this sounds like something their IT dept need to work on..do you agree?.. too much mucking around..theres a better way!

I agree with you, there are so many things they need to be working on, but they have proceeded to do so many things they shouldn't be working on (eg. moving the site to the new UI). TM management (that decides what the IT dept should be doing) certainly has different priorities...LOL

All I do is deactivate the product in My Products. Then go into the live listing under Items I'm Selling and edit the ending time to bring it forward to the earliest time slot it allows. Simple.

Thanks Katie...yes you're right and I will do that next time!!! dont know why I didnt think of that...I have now sent an email asking the IT team to find a solution as it should be an option ... a simple press of a button and done in an instant! thankyou !!!

Just a note. If you have set the item up in My Products as a Buy Now only item, ie a Multi Qty Listing (even if you have just one), then there is no withdrawl fee and it's a simple go to listing, click on withdraw, done.

@Gary It's not clear in the new UI whether one will be charged a withdrawal fee, "may"...

That message hasn't changed, but like I said, there is no withdrawl fee for a withdrawn MQL in MP although you won't find this written anywhere, other than right here ;). The desktop version help files for MP here also make no mention.

It seems that its just on auto pilot..it didnt matter that I wrote a big explanation, it still charged me...I then go to contact us and have to ask for a refund...its usually not a problem but its the hassle of navigating through the process to get there..ggggrrrrr

Hi Leiana, those latest listings you've withdrawn aren't MQLs and that is why they've been charged. I'll drop you an email in a moment.

Lucy, can I ask you a question? Why are MQL listing have no withdrawal fee but an auction does. It seems logical. You will have exactly the same reasons for withdrawing an MQL as an auction, BUT, one is penalised for with drawing, the other not .
, that is really not fair

Withdrawal fees are to encourage people to keep their auctions on the site until they’ve run their course. Bidders can be understandably annoyed when an auction is removed when they're watching it closely and hanging in for the closing time. MQLs on the other hand don't have bids and are available to be purchased from the moment they start since they are Buy Now only. If they're withdrawn, there are no hard feelings since there are no bidders, so we don't need to discourage sellers from removing them in the same way as auctions.
Feel free to email us or get in touch on Live Chat if you need something withdrawn or want to talk about a particular withdrawal fee.
