Trade Me Tip – Trouble logging into your account
PinnedIf you’re having an issue getting signed into your account, take a moment to check you’re using the right email address and that there are no typos in the address or password – remember passwords are case sensitive so check your caps lock too.
If you need to change your password, pop in your email address and select ‘Forgot password’, we email you a link to get that sorted right away. Remember to check your Junk or Spam folder as well.

You go to the Change password page in your My Trademe section.

Link comes up with an error message and can't change in my account as have to put in the old password first, which I can't remember!!

Why does TradeMe keep rejecting my new password when I try to log in with it? This is the second time I have experienced this after using the password regularly for some time. So I create a new password and then the new one is rejected. I have created a new one twice this afternoon and the same thing happened each time. It is VERY annoying! I even tried the chat bot this afternoon but after a couple of basic questions it sent me a message to the effect that it was not working at present! Please tell me : what is going on?

S Community SuperuserKia Ora Sue,Did you receive the TradeMe email confirming your password has been changed?Ensure you clear any saved TradeMe passwords you may have on your Browser or Device / Password Manager first.I have just tested resetting my password twice through the TM password change in 'My TradeMe' account & have onsite & email Confirmation both times that my password was changed. - I am on the Desktop site - MS Edge Browser. - The first time I changed the password it was Not recognised immediately & I had to re-enter it again several times before it was finally accepted so stick with it a few times. - The second time I changed my password it was accepted instantly first time.
If you are still having the same trouble, after clearing any saved passwords you can contact TradeMe staff through "Live Chat" for further assistance & to report your issue, - To bypass the Chatbot type - Talk to person - and you are taken to entering a few details in a new conversation before arriving at the window to Chat with a Real Person/Staff.
The Live Chat manned hours weekdays are 8:00am - 5:30pm and weekends 9:30am - 4:pm- Cheers.0
