Why does Trade me and a few other dodgy sites continue to promote illegal ticket sales?
Under NZ law, selling above face value is specifically prohibited where the event has been formally declared a “major event” under the Major Events Management Act 2007. For a declared major event, you cannot sell or trade a ticket for more than its original sale price without the organiser’s authorisation. Knowingly doing so can result in a fine of up to $5,000.
Sure things happen where you cant attend an event but generally not an hour after you've bought the tickets!!

Kia ora martin586, the resale of tickets in New Zealand is allowed we have a couple of articles about this here and here. Most events are not 'major events', as you've mentioned, events need to be declared 'major events' under the Act in order for it to apply, we don't allow the sale of tickets for 'major events'.

Callum Community SuperuserYeah, the Wahs getting beat up (again) doesn't make the cut for a major event. Here is a list (maybe not complete) of past events that have met the criteria. Often it's not actually about potential ticket sales or local popularity. Generally it has to be a "world" event to be classed as a major event. Some of these might not have been sellouts or had huge ticket-sales. But they do have international interest.

You could be right. I've got a small bet on the Dolphins winning, so maybe I was trying to talk myself up lol. Odds are certainly on the warriors winning at the TAB. I reckon 7 in a row would be too good to be true though!
