How to enable "make an offer" on your listing
Have looked a bit all over the information page of trade me, but cant find a way to make it possible for potential buyers to make an offer on my listings.
How does this work?

When you set up your auction it is on the Price & payment page,
It is only available to casual sellers, it is also not in My Products, so can only be added when setting up auctions on website, I do not use the apps, so hopefully an app user can come in and help there in regards to doing it on the app,

On the app, if you edit the auction you can also see the option to allow buyers to make an option.

To do it one by one is a bit of a challenge, as its only for that auction and you have to do it over and over again. Hope TM will add this also in "my products" some day.

Historically My Products was meant as a business listing tool. In-Trade / Business Sellers can't use make an offer.
But yes, many causal sellers are going to My Products with the current plethora of issues while listing in the traditional way.
So they would either have to activate make an offer to business sellers as well, or somehow program it so only casuals can use it through My Products.

What would be the harm to open it for business sellers too? For instance all "charity shops" are classified as business. All casual sellers who are selling a bit more from home have been "forced" to be a business. Lots of business would like to see "old" stock go.....
All reasons to make it available for business sellers too (and you can always not tick the box if you dont want too, but at least you have the equal opportunity to do so)-1 -

For me, I wouldn't want it to become available for business sellers. But I know others view it differently.
The thing is, if some sellers allow it, people will think ALL sellers should. I already get people offering me ridiculous prices via Q&A. If it was opened up to all business sellers I think that issue would only increase.
If it was made available and you used it you'd have to increase your price of everything. Because I can guarantee you that every single potential buyer will first send you an offer......... The nice fast buynow transactions would be gone. Depending on how your turnover already is you could be faced with dozens of extra emails to all be actioned and a general slowdown of the whole process.

That is a no from a lot of Intrade sellers, as been raised before on here, as it is we get ridiculous offers in Q&A's now,
if buyers know we can make offers but do not use the function, it will get worse via Q&A's, we will get too many ridiculous offers now, We are Intrade for a reason, to make a living, put food on the table, we are not having a shed / house clear-out, we are not a charity, As it is now, our prices/Reserves are at rock bottom on some items, because Trade Me is literally dying, members are leaving,
Intrade we have to buy our items to start with, and have other expenses to cover too, pay Tax etc., and need to make a good % profit on them, set prices at current market value, but when you have a $60 item and someone wants a 33% discount, No, and that is what we get in Q&A's some are just insulting & rude to be honest,

It is one of my pet gripes about MyProducts too.
I can understand that professional sellers don't want it in TradeVine, the business app for professional Trademe users.
But why do they butt in the discussion on MyProducts which is for casual sellers (and nobody cares that it was for pro's a long time ago because that is completely irrelevant)?
It's literally none of their business.
So maybe they should just keep their irrelevant opinions to themselves?

Myproducts is for both professional and casual sellers so their opinion is just as important. If im not mistaken, its original development was actually for professional sellers

Seems pretty clear to me:

The only clear statement in there is that tradevine is for professional sellers. There's no clear statement about who can and can't use my products

My Products introduced 22 June 2010 was set up for both Casual & In-Trade Sellers in mind to easily manage bulk inventory...

> The thing is, if some sellers allow it, people will think ALL sellers should.
That is an assumption that is not backed by facts.
> I already get people offering me ridiculous prices via Q&A.
So do others - that is the FBM effect.
> If it was opened up to all business sellers I think that issue would only increase.
Not a logical conclusion.

I do understand where "in trade" sellers are coming from. But....unfortunately we all have to go with the big "mass". Unfortunately (heaps of) buyers want to offer...
The question is why are we not making this easier for the trade me sellers? Its a button, if in trade sellers dont want to go with this, they just dont tick the box.
Honestly buyers dont know the difference between people who are using "my products" and who are not. If people offer a ridiculous price, you dont have to do anything with the "make an offer button" but if they offer in the Q&A, the question will stay open unless you reply.
To be honest I think as a professional seller we could make it easier for all to use trade me, as there are more serious issues on trade me to worry about. i.e. the many double listings from non new zealand sellers which are clocking up the adverts1 -
@marmis: nice comment. Making it easier and more successful for casual sellers would help stemming the flow of users to other platforms, and THAT should be the overriding priority for professional sellers too. Not if they get annoyed by someone. If they think THAT is bad then you wonder what they do when Trademe shuts and they have to use a platform where 8 of 10 are timewasters at best (some stop contact as soon as they have my address, and 2 or 3 days later someone comes down our long driveway until they see me watching them - then they abruptly turn around), one more is a scam attempt ("do you mind if I use my own courier?" - Do you think I was born yesterday?), and one is actually an interested buyer but wants it (much) cheaper.
Some people here really need to get their priorities straight.
