Add Shipping After Bidding Started
Friendly Query
I understand very well editing a listing after bidding has started is a no no, with the exception is we can add extra photos? (some listings) my issue is why can't we add the shipping after the fact before the listing ends, it will not compromise in anyway the buyer & there bid, just would make things a lot easier all round when it comes to the ping payment. Thank you (oh & please don't say add at the start of listing, as I often do, sometimes there is an explanation at the time why I don't straight away) can T/M find a way around this issue, like as re photos can be added & shipping can be edited. :)

flossy63 Community SuperuserWhen someone places a bid on your auction they are forming a contract with what is on auction,Like arrange shipping with seller, where agreement can be made on fair shipping cost and carrier used etc.between buyer and seller, not forced on them after a bid has been placed,If you put shipping cost on after a bid it may be higher/inflated than one would expect?, which bidder has not agreed to at all, which is changing the condition of the auction they formed a contract with,if it was on there before they bid they may have just moved on if shipping way too high, to find another auction,If you have arrange with seller, that is agreement with both buyer and seller a cost both parties are happy with and carrier, not seller just dictating within minutes of someone winning, their inflated cost, which seller obviously knew before listing,If you want to put shipping on after a bid has been made, you obviously know what it is and should be put on when auction is listed, before any bids are placed,Otherwise what you do is remove bid, leave comment to the bidder, sorry bidder I had to remove your bid to add shipping cost, please feel free to come back and place your bid again, they can either go no ridiculous shipping or agree to your shipping and place their bid again forming a new contract,I had to remove a bid on one of my auctions because I had not put on photo of actual damage although in description, as I had to redo them but forgot to put on before activating in my products,That way if happy with damage they can re bid, if not they can just move on and not forced to accept the damaged item, once they have seen photo, yes I can add photos with bids on but in this case they had not seen damage and may not have agreed to it, which could have opened a big can of worms, disputes etc. so best to remove bids so they actually see, not find out after they have won, example,

Hello ptchevy. Have a little think about it. Imagine bidding on an item, then with 10 minutes to go the seller adds a shipping cost of $200. You wouldn't want to be locked into that I'm sure.
Obviously that's an extreme example, but the shipping costs form part of the contract that is made when an auto-bid is created. Presumably that's why it can't be added or changed after bids have been made.

Lol what a comedian you are $200 shipping, yes I know where you are coming from! was just a query with the set up, although there is a bid & looking the buyer on my listing will win? I do have to make contact to let them know the courier fee which I am sure is low, but its the issue of a separate payment for the courier fee.. will do my best with adding shipping at the start even if I have to add a $1 or so refund in packaging :) (Done in the past)
Thank you Callum

Kia Ora ptchevy,
Where your Buyers are paying by the Ping payment method this is a very quick and easy Ping refund of any extra shipping fee charged plus you will also receive a portion of your Ping shipping fee back. - Cheers.
