How can I refund a buyer when I have no money in my ping account
just a question , what happens if I need to refund a buyer who bought several items but wants a refund for shipping and there is no money in my ping account?

Kia ora adventurer6, you just process the refund via Ping just as you would if there was money in your Ping balance. If you want to clear your negative Ping balance you can either top up (select $0.00) via Manage Ping, or wait until the next time you sell something and the buyer pays with Ping, and we'll take the money you owe from that sale.

Thank you. one more question:
do I have to pay a penalty fee or interest if this happens

Kia Ora adventurer6,
No there is no penalty fee for this if the funds owed are paid within a reasonable timeframe unless TradeMe request you to pay the balance beforehand - as Michelle has stipulated, future Ping sales funds will be used to pay your Debit first. For Full terms scroll down the following page link to Ping Balances, clause 5. - Cheers.

Wow, Michelle, does this mean that a buyer can have up to 90 days to pay for items?
If so, which categories does that apply to?
Or is it for all payments/ transactions?
That's alarming to read.

S Community SuperuserSorry for the confusion Howold,A Buyer paying by Ping where the payment fails due to insufficient funds in their Bank account the payment is temporarily covered by TM However the Buyer must bring their Ping balance back to $0.00 with a manual deposit made or await their next Sale in which case the Ping funds paid at purchase by the winning Member is directly used to cover the Ping debt. - If the Buyer is paying using their Ping Balance, where there is insufficient Ping funds to cover the full payment the Buyer has to use their card to complete the remaining funds at the time of the transaction to complete the purchase. The scenario being discussed here is a Seller refunding excess shipping paid via Ping & if their Ping account goes into debt.TradeMe have No obligation to allow a Ping debt to any Member, should they then the funds from any sales are directly applied against money owed. - Should TM request the debt paid prior to this it must be paid immediately. There is no specific fee for having a Ping account in debt however if it remains negative the Member may be referred to a debt collection agency and are liable for these extra costs.AI pulled the 90 day timeframe from the Buyer Protection disputes - I will edit the comment above accordingly. - Thanks.0

Kia ora Howold, information on expected timeframes for paying and sending is in the Code of Conduct. Buyers and sellers can still make their own arrangements, but generally buyers are expected to pay for goods within a week of the listing closing.
