Ridiculous new payment method
Sooo, I've just bought something where the seller did not specify shipping. Once the amount was specified, I couldn't alter the amount to be paid by Ping. I paid the seller directly to their bank account. Now I still have an outstanding payment showing, as well as a new 'service fee' owing. This seems like a glaring oversight by the brains who devised this new system. Are we now supposed to make two different transactions every time shipping isn't added to a listing?
I love how this is marketed as 'No more success fees'. All they've done is effectively passed that on to the buyer, then charged the seller a fee for Ping or Afterpay!

It's incompetence all around, but hey what would we users know who don't have any idea where the 'Mysterious Survey' information is.

Hello Emily Robyn. I answered on your other post which is about the same issue.
Yes it's annoying, It's best to get the seller to add the shipping BEFORE you buy.
Otherwise yes you need to pay with internet banking or get them to set up another auction just for the shipping.

The problem is that the specified shipping can be very wrong. For one thing shipping can change between when you list an item to when you sell it (and the courier does NOT honour Trademe's 'non-binding it's just an estimate' courier quote, for another courier might be more expensive because they use another courier for the last mile (happens usually with Aramex). Therefore I state that I do not know shipping yet.

What "mysterious survey" information are you referring to Howold?

Emily-Robyn - their are no success fees, there are PING fees (which arent new) and "service fees" which the buyer pays ONLY if buying from a casual seller and the item is more than $20. In most cases for casual sellers, the overall fees are much less than the success fees

Gosh AJ, you should know what survey it is that was done as oft discussed in here and as a Community Superuser must know if there's been Consumer related Survey's done for PING, Trademe & APAX partners.
We don't recall seeing or partaking in one nor can seem to locate the survey results, or Questions asked of participants.
Anyone who can help source these surveys it would be appreciated so we can decide for ourselves our thoughts on them.

Hello Howold. Trade Me is often sending surveys. I get them fairly often. Sometimes direct from Trade Me, sometimes via other online survey companies. Just like any other private company I doubt they publish full details of them for the public to see. But they no doubt use them for statistical analysis and will keep a record of the data to back up any claims made.
If you have never received surveys, but would like to, check your settings.

Hi Howold. Community superusers are not trade me company staff so have no special avenue to gain access to the results of the companies survey data. Superusers are simply trade me members who helped others on the message board for a long time so were given this title. It would be quite nice if there was information somewhere here to explain what superusers are to other trade me members so they don't get the blame for a system they had no part in setting up.
I have no idea if this survey data is available to gen pop, but the only people you could ask is trade me personnel themselves.
