Will Trademe remove a negative feedback from 20 years ago?
AnsweredI have more than 600 positive feedbacks and only 1x negative feedback from almost 20 years ago.
The buyer bought a small $13 item from me (a fish tank ornament), and then suddenly placed negative feedback saying that it was old discolored which I would have never expected. I tried to resolve the issue with him but he was more interested in making insulting and racist remarks in this email. Clearly he was just more interested in provoking a fight.
This trader hasn't used Trademe since 2011 so he's clearly been inactive.
Would Trademe consider removing this negative feedback? I can't find a way to contact Trademe about this.

unlikely.. we had the same issue, back in 2016 customer had asked a question just before the auction closed about the product and if it was a push button (was never stated as a push button and had super clear photos of the measuring wheel) they brought it then gave us a blue face for not being push button, we requested it to be removed and TM never did, it was unfair on our part as we had had been really clear in the listing and made sure it had good clear photos, the customer had just assumed it did.

Kia Ora lc2020,
Sorry to read that happened to you,
TradeMe don't review feedback after 45 days of the original listing closing.

Nope. I've had the same. I did enquire about it (because in my case the account was closed.) Trade Me said the other party closed their account themselves so they can't remove the feedback.
The only hope you have is if Trade Me have to close the account for some reason. They will remove it automatically then. That's pretty unlikely if they aren't even using it though. If the account is still on here, even if it's not active, you're stuck with the feedback unfortunately unless it breaches some other part of the feedback policy.
I Think it would make sense for TM to do a trawl and remove accounts that have been inactive for a certain time. 5 years? 10 years? These accounts are often targets for scammers to compromise them and use them for nefarious purposes.

Mid July 2023 TradeMe were sending Members an email to Login to their accounts within 4 wks or the account would be closed - I'm not sure if these emails are still sent out though this would counteract account status for the untoward players. - Cheers.
