Members with multiple profiles to hide bad FB
AnsweredI had a listing and someone with bad feedback made a bid. They were automatically removed and blacklisted by Bid Bud but came back just before the auction closed under a different recently created member name with no feedback and won the auction. Both memberships had different names from the bank account used to make payment. Sure enough they immediately started bombarding me with emails complaining about the item as they had previously done to other sellers yet didn't ask any questions on the auction, presumably because I would have recognized them as the same person and blocked them. I'm anticipating that they will eventually post negative feedback. Does Trademe have any rules about multiple memberships? I know they don't allow shill bidding but this is simply a bad trader getting round the feedback system. I've now blacklisted this account as well, but I'm loath to auto remove bids by new members.

I had issues with a buyer that I placed on my Blacklist. They then bid on another item a week later using a different account. I knew it was the same person because they gave the same delivery address. I cancelled the trade and got in touch with Trade Me to let them know what had happened. I’m not sure what action they took, but they said they would handle it from there.
If you are certain both buyers are one and the same person, I’d cancel the trade and contact Trade Me.

Unfortunately I did go through with the trade (and regretted it, but often relisting a trade taints it). I might contact tm and see what they say.

I would definitely contact Trade Me, that way if the buyer places negative feedback you have a better chance of having it removed.

To answer your question No. A member is not allowed 2 accounts. There are some exceptions. You can have a business account and private account or multiple business accounts on written application.
But you are only allowed 1 general private account. If you make Trade Me aware they will close one (or both if they have a bad record)
So you don't need to worry about the feedback issue. They won't be able to leave any.

Who has the link to the new members page please?, I must be blind I cannot find it? does it still exist?,
I caught someone today with a new account, because of really bad feedback on their other account barely 18 months old they just stopped using it, and I had thought they have probably created a new account, when checking my blacklist recently,
Trade Me disabled it within 30 minutes after I raised it with them, as I had put an item on my watch list they were selling & got notification, I accidentally picked it up while browsing their listings?, hmm why does that back ground look familiar?,
I reckon they will make yet another account, yes, I do not ever want to trade with them again, bad people,
so just want to keep an eye on New Members in a certain location,

Here it is, my earlier post is pending moderation.

I deleted my previous post as it was the link without any other explanation, which looks like the system didn't like.

Yes that's the one from Gary. But it is pretty limited. Only those few and you can't see any more. Also, while it says they were all added today it's not correct if you click into them. Some are actually many years old. I think it's something to do with them editing their profile today maybe?

Yes Callum, it's profiles that have been created OR updated recently. The scammers are often easy to spot in the list though as they are usually overseas and have update times beside their profile names like 3:20am etc. It's actually a pretty good way of keeping track as if you click on to each the link turns a different colour, so when you refresh the page you can easily see the ones you haven't yet clicked on. Trademe must monitor this sometimes too as occasionally I click on someone in the list and it says they are goneburgers already.

Thanks for that all,
I see what you mean, you click on them and they are old profiles,
Oh well. I know what they sell, which is limited in one of the categories in their area,
their other listings will tell the story, probably same back ground, no doubt they will trip themselves up with that again,
Makes you wonder last account not even 18 months old, how many accounts have they had before that, that have
racked up a lot of bad feedback as sellers?, people not receiving parcels etc, lack of communication?
