Mircochip for selling puppies
Hi all
I am trying to list a litter of puppies but my female isnt microchipped - she is registered as a farm dog.
Is there a way to do this or not?
Thanks

Yes. Microchip is not a required field when listing a dog.

Thanks, but it wont let me proceed without entering one?

I have done a test listing on Desktop and succeeded in making a listing. No microchip number was necessary.
Perhaps you could provide a screen shot of the error you are getting?

The problem comes in when the puppies are less than 90 days old - the system highlights the microchip area in yellow & won't let you proceed. - Cheers.

Yes, this is exactly where I am having trouble.

Kia Ora Stephen,
I've escalated this for you, hopefully we'll have the answer soon - Cheers.😊

I guess that's the whole point to try and stop people selling puppies before they are 90 days old?

Kia Ora Callum,
Puppies for most breeds are good to be rehomed at 8 weeks, even if weaned & fully independent at 7 weeks they still benefit from being with their litter mates until the 8 weeks. - The smaller breeds is preferred at 10 weeks - This is by the NZ Veterinary association. - Cheers.

Yes I understand that and they wont be ready for new homes until then but wanted to begin finding new homes from now you see and update which most do?? They are 3 weeks old now and will not leave till they are 9-10 weeks old.

Dunno if it's particularly something Trade Me would want you doing, but what about the good old "123456789" or however many numbers are on a microchip? Does it validate whatever you put in there?

I actually did try that with no luck. Never mind I will just try another avenue but a shame as I know others do it but I guess they have a microchip number for the females.

Kia ora Stephen, from your screenshot it looks like you've ticked Complies with Animal Welfare Code. When you tick that, the microchip field is required.

Kia Ora Stephen,
As Michelle has advised above - If you don't tick the Complies with Animal Welfare Code you can bypass the microchip no problem to continue Listing your Puppies - I would put a note in your Description stating your puppies & their Mum/Parents Fully Comply with the Animal Welfare Code, as this is a Marketing & Selling plug. - I've just tested leaving compliance unticked with success - Cheers.

S Community SuperuserEditedKia Ora Michelle,WoW!! - Thanks for finding a workaround in the interim.Having Compliance with the Animal Welfare Code for Farm/working Dog puppies under 90 days is an equally important Marketing & Selling Point toward Top value for all puppies in this category which shouldn't be overlooked - As such it's natural for all Members to select the Compliance box therefore some concrete ingenuity is required here for the Best outcome Otherwise Members find their own way around the system Or List via opposing sites & TM lose out on continued & return Business which can include multiple products required for a New pup right the way through to Adult Dogs & beyond as well as litter Listing fees. Please put through a change control request for a permanent resolution - A suggestion of a select check box for the Farm/working Dog Puppies under 90 days which allows the Compliance selection & cancels the microchip required field entry is one solution. It would be beneficial to add a note on the Listing page itself within the 'Complies with Animal Welfare Code' that states 'Don't select for Farm/working Dog puppies under 90 days of age' in the interim.Plus a like Note added to the Help File Animal listing policy – Help - Trade Me with it's own Title of Farm/working Dog Puppies - Currently there is only a Heading for Household Pets which includes Dogs - at this stage no one is informed of the How to List the Farm/working Dog puppies under 90 days category anywhere onsite. An opportunity here to improve the site & Members experience which can start today. - Thanks.0

Kia ora S, thanks for this feedback, I've passed it on 🙂

It doesn't look like TradeMe have actioned this - I'm trying to list puppies from a working farm mum who isn't microchipped, we fully copy with the animal welfare code, but can't tick that box. Would be great to see Trademe sort this out so we're not disadvantaged selling our puppies. You charge a lot for the listing and this will limit our success.

Kia Ora Alistair,
Sorry to read this hasn't been actioned,
Bypass the microchip without ticking that box in the interim & note in your Description your puppies & parents Fully Comply with the Animal Welfare Code.
All the Best for your sales - Cheers.
