Delayed pick-up from Courier
AnsweredI booked a courier on Sunday night through Trademe for Monday pick up, received the tracking number printed the label. Monday no pick-up, called the Courier Company early Tuesday morning and they said they would have it picked up, but no pick-up. This morning, Wednesday called Courier company first thing in the morning, agent said they would make it an urgent pick up. By 4PM no pick up so called Courier again (I was told, they stop pick-ups at 5PM). I told Agent I wanted a refund if it wasn’t picked up today. Agent said she would get someone to pick it up urgently. It was picked up by the end of the day. Have written to buyer to apologise as they should have received the package by tomorrow at the latest. How should a shipper handle this kind of issue? Thank you

Susy, the best way to handle this as a shipper is to contact Trademe and ask them to cancel the booking and refund you and also email the courier company advising them in writing. If you use live chat for Trademe, this usually happens immediately. Re-book using a different courier as the courier you have previously chosen is not reliable. This can be for several reasons or combinations eg, they are too busy, they don't have enough capacity in your area, your local rep/driver doesn't have their heart in it. I changed a couple of years ago as my driver kept telling me he was too busy, his van wasn't big enough, and when I contacted their branch manager, he made many promises that were never kept. I occasionally have to book with them still, but their service is now quick and trouble free, as manager and driver have changed.

Kia Ora Susy,
Sorry to read of your experience,
You have handled the delay Perfectly! - Keeping your Buyer informed and keeping in touch with your courier until pick up was achieved.
Where there is a delay with the TradeMe courier partners you can phone the courier company on their 0800 number to cancel the booking then contact TradeMe for the refund.
You can contact TradeMe staff through the form in the Link below Or during manned business hours through "Live Chat" - to bypass the Bot type - Talk to person - in the chat window - I sometimes have to enter this twice before I'm transferred through to a Real Person/Staff. - Cheers.
