Getting a Copy of a Previous Advertisement by a Car Dealer
Wondering if anyone can help me with the following:
I followed up on a car add that was placed on Trade Me by a dealer, and bought the car concerned. The Trade Me add was pretty much removed as soon as the sale happened. Due to the recent Xmas break there was a delay of several weeks in getting registration. It was finally delivered last week. Subsequently there's been some discussion with the dealer and myself as to the exact wording of the add for this car. The sale is dated the 6th of January 2025. My question is, does Trade Me keep a record of such adds, and can I access a copy of it?

Hello Gerry. This gets asked quite often on here. Unfortunately once a classified ad is gone, it's gone for good.
Hindsight I know but you need to grab a screenshot of the listing and photos before it's withdrawn or this is the situation you find yourself in.
If you are lucky google may have cached a copy of it.
Otherwise you can contact Trade Me directly to see if they can assist.

Hopefully you've kept the CIN sheet when you bought it as that should detail everything that's on the Trademe ad and visa versa. The seller is required by law to provide one.
All registered vehicle traders must......
- display an accurate Consumer Information Notice (CIN) on used vehicles.
This applies whether you pay cash, get the car as a gift or buy on lease or on finance. You have these rights no matter if you buy from a car dealer online, from a car yard or at an auction.
