Item sent without payment
AnsweredI initially won an auction, but when I went to pay using internet banking my bank alerted me via extra security checks that something was dodgy, so I pulled out of the transaction. But the seller sent the item anyway, I couldn`t contact the seller because their email address was no reply?

Kia Ora Brett,
You can find your Seller's email address in your Won items, enter the closed Listing itself, as well as the payment confirmation email TradeMe sent you - scan through the email for it, - if you selected Reply to the payment confirmation email it may be returning the TradeMe email as a No Reply rather than your Seller's address.
If your Seller's address is definitely a No Reply address as well you can place a Feedback note letting them know their email address isn't working for you & can they please make contact with you. - Cheers.

Hi Brett. What was the warning? A few months ago NZ banks added a second layer of security where the account name is checked against the account number. Many people are still getting to grips with this. A lot of sellers aren't aware of it. It needs to be a full name as well. So if your seller had only given you an initial rather than a name, that can trigger the warning.
While it's still safest to not go ahead if you do get the warning, it could be an explanation for you about what has happened here.

If you're referring to a warning giving by the banks after checking whether the account name provided matches the actual account, this in itself it not an absolute indicator of something being dodgy. I have found some honest traders that prefer not to give away their full or correct name for their own security reasons. It never mattered in the past as the banks never checked them. If the this is the case (name mismatch warning) and the item has been sent and you are still happy to proceed with the trade, then maybe consider to just pay them. Also check the buyers feedback, particularly their more recent feedback
If there is some other reason, then that is a totally different story.
