How do you get a potential buyer details to view an item without breaking TOS?
AnsweredSo I know TradeMe doesn't allow sharing personal details in the Q&A, so my question is, how do you go about getting a buyer your address/phone to setup a time to view the item in person before committing to buying it?
Do you just ask the buyer to click buy now and pick bank transfer/cash as payment, to get there contact details, and then cancel the trade (and ask TM for TM fee refund) if the buyer doesn't want to go ahead after viewing?
I've been searching the TM help pages, but can't find anything for this use case (except for when you sell a car where you can share your ph.).

Easy answer Adriel, you can't get the other persons contact details for general auctions while they are running, unless you have traded with the other person before and have their details already, or if you or they have a classified where it's allowed to have contact details in the right fields. An easy option like you have said is to agree after discussion in Q & A to cancel the trade if things aren't as advertised, but that can lead to problems. Best thing is to ask for more photos, description & dimensions if something is not clear in the listing.

Hmm yeah, that's what I thought was the most logical option. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything obviously against the rules.
Good tip on the photos. I try to cover everything, but sometimes do miss things.

Same question but it concerns a vehicle. A potential buyer wants to arrange a time to inspect the car, or wants to get the car professionally inspected. I might make the same request if I was buying a car. If you can't share contact details, how do you organise the meeting?

Kia Ora Grant,
The same answer by Gary-NZStocked applies to vehicle Listings.
If the Buyer is Happy to pay for a professional inspection this can be part of the agreement formed through the Q&A section that if they are the successful winner can full purchase be subject to this inspection as well as viewing & test driving the vehicle in person. - Many Car/vehicle Sellers are happy to work this way given the understanding Buyers are limited in options to make contact with the Seller prior & Test drive the vehicle's performance. - All the Best for your Sale!
