Commission on item PLUS SHIPPING?

After years of trading, I have just spotted what I think is TradeMe charging commission on a sale (as expected) but also charging commission on the quoted shipping costs (not expected)? This seems weird when the shipping is not "sold" via TradeMe, just displayed - more like part of the item description? The shipping is then entirely arranged and carried out by me, the seller: so am I really paying TradeMe for that? I'm confused. The Ts&Cs do appear to say commission is on item + shipping, but it still seems a bit irregular/unreasonable? I'm talking in principle, as my sales are really small so we're talking a few cents. Thanks in advance for any clarification provided :0)

If you're an in-trade seller Trade Me take commission on both the item sold and the postage. It was supposedly implemented to stop traders selling an item for say $1.00 and postage was $100.00 and Trade Me were missing out on success fees. So now they are double-dipping which makes a really uneven playing field. And everytime couriers increase their prices...

Gary-NZStocked Community SuperuserWendy, yes, since 2018 Trademe have charged success fees on shipping but only for In Trade sellers. There explanation is in the announcement made back then, although they have recently removed the Gold Trade rebate.

I couldn't find the page to Link - These Announcements should be incorporated with or into the Search for Members to find as so much info' is hidden in there which is so relevant & essential - Much appreciated😊👍

Thanks everyone for clarification. Next issue is - but I'm not an In Trade seller! How do I tell TradeMe that, please, for future transactions?

Double check your profile doesn't have the In-Trade badge applied to it.
To contact TradeMe staff through "Live Chat" for assistance, If you select the Contact us Link at the very bottom of any TradeMe page the Chat Tab will Pop up in blue at the bottom right of your landing page screen. - Enter in the Chat bot which comes up once opened - person - and you will be taken to entering your details before arriving at the window to Chat with a Real Person/Staff.The Live Chat manned hours weekdays are 8:00am - 5:30pm and weekends 9:30am - 4:pm- Cheers.1
