The usual way forward here is to withdraw your classified then relist as an auction. Get Trade Me onboard first though to confirm that and they should be able to process a manual refund of your classified fee.

Don't forget to save any photos and description from your classified. Because when you withdraw it you won't have access to the old advertisement.

No Chris, you can't change a live classified to an auction. What you can do though is, make sure you have a backup copy of your current listing then withdraw it or edit it if you are able to make it close sooner. You can then enter in all the info again when you list as an auction. Occasionally Trademe have offers for low or no success fees for auctions for personal memberships in some categories. If there is a fee free promotion, you will receive an email about it, IF you have those options turned on in Trademe in your email preferences. The only permanent deal with $1 res is that if it sells for $1, there is no fee to pay.
