Hello Andrew. That is just a warning that comes up. It is not a restriction at all. Many banks recently added this warning. In response to current scams where people have a fake legitimate sounding name, that has nothing to do with the actual bank account the money is going into. In New Zealand there are NO CHECKS DONE on names to account numbers. Hence the warning your buyer is seeing. The buyer can put anything they want in the name field. "Mickey Mouse" will work and the payment will still go through...............
I don't have a problem with the true international sellers, who are classed as such. These can be simply filtered out if you don't want to see them. I do have a problem with the dropshippers that send everything from overseas, when they are based in New Zealand. These can't be filtered. Trade Me need to alter the filter so it applies to the item location, not the seller location. But we have been asking for that for years without any success.
Hi Rahbeka. The obligation for this one lies strictly with the seller. Even legally so if they were "in-trade". Glass is a very tricky thing to send. Unless the packaging was good. Very very good, you might find the claim gets rejected by NZpost anyway. So you need to be hounding the seller, Forget about NZ Post. You paid the seller to get an item to you in good condition. They didn't do that. They need to sort it. Sounds like you are doing all you can at this stage. Just keep the pressure up is about all you can do.
Hi Belinda. If it's a caravan, and listed in the correct category you can add a phone number. There is a dedicated place to do it. I wouldn't put it in the description. That will allow anyone on earth to view it. You will likely get scam attempts from abroad. Edit the auction, put a tick on the box of the phone number(s) you wish to display and add them.
The potential buyer is not supposed to put their phone number there. You can ask TradeMe to remove it. Community Watch your auction and find the subject that says contact details are being shared in the Q&A
Sure, I've got some stats for you. You didn't mention where your alternative was. But I have some iPads listed on Trade Me and FB marketplace.I have the price cheaper on FB because there are no fees Facebook $150: Clicks (views) 469. Questions "Is this available" or stupid offers: 60+ SALES:0 Trade Me $160: views 47. Questions 2. SALES: 3
peachypeaches you are incorrect about designer wardrobe. They have a flat rate of $4.95 for items sold for under $40. So if you are selling an item for $10 you pay a massive 49.5% in fees. Over $40 the rate is 12.95%. So still much higher than Trade Me.....
My answer regarding Ping has gone into pending and will clear soon. For Afterpay there is NO RISK on you as a seller. If a buyer defaults that's on Afterpay, not you. Your money is safe and can't be clawed back.
cratecurator You might find your sales increase as buyers search out in-trade sellers so they don't have to pay the service fee. There seems to have been a recent big push flossy63 where casual sellers suspected of being in-trade were switched over by Trade Me without any say from the sellers themselves. I got a bunch of warnings on my Private account myself. So they are probably already onto that. :)
How much fees do you pay to sell something on Facebook Marketplace addibum? That is why Trade Me have made this change. Unlike Facebook which has other revenue streams, and a pretty unfair tax model in New Zealand, Trade Me have to clip the ticket somewhere. The biggest difference of course is the protection you get on Trade Me versus none on FB.
