How to see actual shipping selection a buyer chose?
Hi There,
How can sellers see the carrier and shipping type (signature etc) the buyer clicked-on?
I've just discovered this because the buyer finds Aramax completely useless and specifically chose NZ Post. But TradeMe chose Aramax when I ordered, which I thought was because of buyer preference.
But it seems TradeMe only shows the best price match? Also does TradeMe not re-calculate shipping prices when you re-list auctions (quick re-list etc)?
The whole situation is a recipe for disappointment. Buyers think sellers are choosing cheaper shipping and pocketing the difference, or some buyers hate Aramax while others hate NZ Post, and some buyers insist on a signature while others do not.
The data is obviously in the system - right? Because buyers select specific choices, so why aren't sellers allowed to see their choices? All I ever see is a generic 'Courier - Rest Of North Island’ etc which isn't useful.
Does anyone know how to see this info? And if it isn't available, does anyone know how to make a feature request?
Contacting buyers can be painful for a variety of reasons, like longer delays while waiting for replies - especially when you travel for work and you've sold something - you need to get stuff sent.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers, Ben

Are you using the get a calculate courier costs / quote when you set up the auction?,
as you will get the cheapest, or you can select, just Aramex or NZ post?
as this is just calculate, you get the cheapest costs, for eg. very small bag
but when it goes live you do not see the Aramex, or NZ Post, it will just show costs,
so it will be what ever you put on your auction, only you will know, what they are,
so if you don't have a NZ post quoted, how can they select NZ post, They can only select what you have on your auction,
I am a little bit confused into what you are saying as buyer selected NZ Post?, they cannot select that if you do not have it on your auction,

flossy63 Thanks so much for the reply (dig your icon BTW).
Just to clarify:
- I'm the seller
- I used the TradeMe system to calculate costs when setting-up the auction
- I didn't specifically choose Aramax or NZ Post during setup, the auction showed all options
- The buyer was offered these choices and specifically chose NZ Post and paid via Ping
- But when I booked the shipping, TradeMe pre-selected Aramax
- Aramax wasn't the cheapest and nor was it first, so I thought this pre-selection is what the buyer wanted
- So I booked it (there was a 1 cent difference in what the buyer paid)
- But it turns out, the buyer hates Aramax and specifically chose NZ Post
So my question is this:
How can sellers see the specific shipping choice the customer makes when they purchase?
When I check the auction, and other recent auctions, all I see, is a generic 'Courier - Rest Of North Island' - see images attached. This appears on both the TradeMe website and in the email confirmation.
I don't see the buyers specific carrier, timing, or signature choices.Does that make more sense? Any help much appreciated.
Cheers, Ben
Here's what I see on the TradeMe website...

And here's what I see in the confirmation email...

The buyers can only see what you have on your auction, nothing else,
so if you had no mention of NZ post on your auction, they cannot pacifically select it,
If they want NZ post they need to E-Mail you, or better ask a question on auction before they place a bid,
So going by this would you be in the south Island?,
This is what you got when you got your quote, But the courier names are not supplied on auction,
only the prices, That price you show is for Aramex not NZ Post,

Sorry, there's some confusion. I added both Aramax and NZ Post and the buyer selected NZ Post - perfect, no problem.
But how do I see that the customer choose NZ Post when I order the shipping?

flossy63 Sorry, are you saying that the customer doesn't choose the carrier when they click to buy? Because he's convinced he selected NZ Post while purchasing (I'm pretty sure I've specified the carrier when I've purchased but could be wrong).

flossy63 Community SuperuserIf the shipping you got is Aramex, not NZ Post, they can only select quotes from what you have on your auction, and $11.43 is a Amarex quote for a box?, which they have obviously chosen, not NZ post,So your buyer has not selected NZ Post at all,They select $11.43 without knowing what Courier, The buyer is presuming only, stand your ground,You have an Aramex Quote, they accepted it, just book with Aramex,Next time they need to ask on Auction before the bid,They cannot pacifically select a courier in this instance, they are dreaming,go and do what I have above create a dummy listing get those quotes, and show your buyer it is indeed Aramex,If they want NZ post they need to pay more,1

flossy63 Thanks for your patience. Here's what was shown on the auction. But I don't know what he saw when he paid.

flossy63 Community SuperuserBen,That is exactly what they would have seen, and can only select what is shown there on your auction,They have no option to see or select NZ Post,It is clear they have selected the $11.43 which I now see is the 3-5 Kg weight, for both Islands, only the seller setting up the auction, sees the couriers in Yellow, buyers do not see that,In this case they have formed a contract with your $11.43, which happens to be Aramex, so you can book that,in this case the buyer is not happy with them, they are at fault for not asking before placing bid or using the buy Now,You have stuck with what you had on your auction, Aramex,

flossy63 Ah OK.
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, it's very much appreciated. And sorry I was confused and got bamboozled by the buyer. Cheers
