Fake accounts targeting iPhones

P, the best thing if you are suspicious of bidding is to report it to Trademe via the Community Watch link at the bottom of any listing. Trademe have have tools in their arsenal to check out accounts to see if they are fake or likely to be hacked or scammers, but do remember we all started with zero feedback once. One of those bidders does look dodgy though so best report using CW and TM can look in to it.

There are many higher value items that are obvious targets for scammers.

Hi P. In my experience most scammers (At least the organised International ones that sneak through) tend to use buynow rather than participate in the auction process. They risk exposing themselves by making early bids, and it means more work for them monitoring auctions to be sure they will win.

I'm not saying you are wrong, there could be something going on and it's great you're checking these things. I've sold a few phones in my time. Often I do get a flurry of new members participating at the start when they think they're in for a bargain. The serious bidders who have more experience with how auctions work generally come in at the last minute.

I recently had dodgy watchers, not authenticated, accounts only days old,

was doing manual fixed price offers, as had closed some auctions early,

as had stopped listing as wanted to get things out of the way and auctions shipped asap,

my auctions are restricted to authenticated only,

ok just gone to Blacklist, 2 still showing New not authenticated and just picked up both same location?, others vanished?,
