Auto Bid - Pushing the auction up
AnsweredI have just won an auction where I had an auto bid set to a abnormal amount ie $54.50. One person just pushed my auto bid up to the exact amount but did not go over. This person who pushed my bid had bad feedback and the person I won the auction from has only two other trades on TM. Am I being scammed? Is there any way to check this with TM?

They have no way of knowing what your auto bid was, they could have legit put up a bid of $53.50 and called it quits.
The only way for this to be a scam .... would be for them to bid you up, until they are in lead by $1, then have the seller remove the leading bid, which would have left you in front.
You could contact Trade Me via the live chat, give them the Auction number, and they would be able to review the bidding activity.

They probably just bid to what they could afford. Like you did. There is no way they can know what your auto-bid is until they go over it so they probably just gave up on it. I don't see any reason for it to be a scam. And I can't see any proof of 'foul play' in your post for Trade Me to follow up on.

Another thing you can do is go to your E-Mail settings, and select to be E-Mailed when Out bid,
That way you know an bid has been removed in a very short space of time, and when no questions asked on Auction?,
good sign shill bidding going on & contact Trade Me, let them know and ask them to remove your bid, Re bid where it was, if happens again, you will know dodgy,
It happened many years ago to me, got E-Mail out bid, checked auction no leading bid?, but my bid bid up to the last odd cent I had on it, leading bid had been removed,
after I looked at other auctions of different items same bidder bidding up that were currently running, that account quickly went poof !!, Trade Me names and names on accounts almost the same Lol!, just altered the spelling,
