Prospective purchaser included their cell phone in questions
AnsweredHave a current listing for a car part/accessory. A prospective buyer asked a question re picking up but the answer was already in the auction description and they also included their phone number. I have two such identical questions from the same prospective buyer. I answered the first one via the site and pointed out there was a "buy now" at the same as the start price. Confirmed re re pickup, arrangements would be supplied after purchase. No purchase resulted. There is another watcher as well so trying to keep all on a level playing field. Do the same rules re no contact details in Q apply to car parts and accessories as they would in general auctions? If that is the case I will request TM Help to remove the two questions. Thanking you for any comments.

Yes Don, the rules apply site wide. It is only allowed to have contact details in the special fields for that purpose on vehicles, real estate etc. It is not allowed anywhere else, including Q & A.

Kia Ora Don,
You may like to answer the second question letting the Member know personal contact info' is prohibited in the Q&A section and this opens them up to scammers therefore TM will remove that info' - This way your prospective Buyer shouldn't be put off your listing once they understand why the question is removed - You can also let them know the answers are within the listing itself. - Cheers.

Maybe the "small print" under the ask a question box should be made
big print.

Big thanks for your helpful comments Gary & S. Utilised the second question as suggested by S with a friendly educative approach. Trader purchased and trade ran smooth and slick. Looking at the lower value older cars for sale, potential buyers leaving their contact details in the questions appears to be rife. Which is why I came on here to double check before I acted on my situation. As you mentioned S it could make them vulnerable to being scammed. Your suggestion Gary re big print definitely worthy of a try, should be easy enough to implement. Hopefully TM might note your suggestion.

Thank you Don and Congratulations on the Successful Sale 😊 It's great to hear when trades go well.
When I come across personal info' being shared in listings I put a Question through advising the risk and lead the Seller to contact TM staff to remove these questions - these can also be reported through the Community watch link below the listings.
Have a great weekend and Happy Trading - Cheers.
