Buyer selected wrong shipping option
AnsweredHi there,
Just wanted to see what options are available to me.
I recently sold an item successfully. However, I've been contacted by the buyer who selected the wrong (too expensive, rural) shipping option for the auction. They want me to adjust this before they will pay.
Is there any way to do this on my end, or do I need to contact TradeMe to sort this out? The difference is quite stark (~$15 vs $4), and I don't want to be charged a fee for $15 shipping but only be paid for $4 shipping!

Once the auction has closed, the shipping option the buyer selected can not be changed. If the buyer wants to pay by Ping or Afterpay, there are a couple of choices but the cleanest is the buyer pays the correct amount by internet banking and you ask Trademe for a partial refund of the extra fees you paid.
Other options:
- If you have others listed, or something else of the same value listed, suggest the buyer purchase that and choose the correct shipping this time and you will send what they wanted and cancel the first sale.
- Buyer pays what they selected and you refund the difference directly through Trademe, then ask Trademe for a partial refund of the extra fees you paid.
- Arrange with the buyer to relist so they can choose the correct shipping when using Buy Now, then ask Trademe for a full refund of the extra fees you paid.
