Listing Withdrawn by Trade Me administrator
AnsweredHi can someone please help me understand what is going on here. I had bid on an item and had the leading bid right up until at least the last 30 seconds and then at the last moment when I was expecting to see a notice saying I had won the auction (or lost, however unlikely) instead I got a message along the lines of "The listing has been withdrawn by a Trademe administrator".
Has this been done by the seller or by trademe? It seems very suspicious.

This often happens with either dodgy listings, or listings where Trademe have asked the seller to provide proof they have the goods, and the seller has not provided such proof.
You'll usually get an email from Trademe Trust & Security as well. All legit.
Happens regularly for higher priced items like PSP consoles, Mobiles etc.
The email from Trademe will be along the lines of this one..
Hi Gary-NZStocked
We have concerns about a listing which you participated in or viewed recently: item description here
DO NOT COMPLETE THIS TRADE.
The membership has been compromised by a scammer and this listing is not genuine. The items do not exist. Do not make contact using any of the email addresses set out in the listing. We have suspended this membership until further notice.
You may receive further emails from the scammers claiming that the seller has now been verified by Trade Me. This will also be a hoax and is another way to trick you into making the trade. Do not respond to them.

I do sometimes put "Listing withdrawn by admin" as the reason for withdrawing a listing (MQL not auction). But this "admin" is actually me, just want to make the reason sounds more legit...haha

Arthur, you do realise the box where you write Reason for withdrawl, is a note that get's sent to Trademe only.

Gary, I have no idea who gets sent the reason. Depending on what I'm withdrawing and the actual reason behind withdrawing the item, I'd phrase the reason accordingly. Sometimes I'll just put "a". Usually when my free listing allowance got reduced, on the Monday, I'll withdraw a bunch of listings with reasons "a". Sometimes I'll put reasons like "listing expired", "listing withdrawn by admin", I feel life is more interesting that way, instead of always putting the same reason...haha

I have watchlisted items I would be interested in....then have seen them as 'withdrawn by Seller'.....did they sell?

If it says withdrawn by Seller, then it means just that. The seller has withdrawn the listing. The reasons are too many to write here, but could be they have sold it elsewhere, they have decided to keep it after all, they made a mistake in the listing and didn't know how to edit it, they went to take another photo of it and found damage not previously seen, their stock count was wrong and they don't have the item listed anymore, and the list goes on.

Maybe someone else used Buy Now just before you did? or has it been withdrawn by Trademe, or the seller? It will give you more info in your Lost items folder.

I paid for an item 15/12/22 and went to check why it is taking so long to arrive and it says 'The listing you have requested has been Withdrawn by a Trade Me Administrator '..I have no email from them, only the Transaction from my bank?? How and who do I contact please

Leanne, it sounds like you may have been victim to a scammer. If you paid by Ping or Afterpay, contact Trademe. If you paid by internet banking, contact Trademe but also contact your bank and ask what can be done, which may not be anything after this long.
As the listing has been withdrawn you won't be able to use the Dispute Resolution path from the listing, so you would need to contact Trademe directly from the Contact Us link, bottom of any page here.
Hopefully it wasn't one of the regular scammer listings like an iPhone, Oculus headset, Dyson Airwrap, Gigabyte video card, iPad, which are some of the recent common scam listings.

I added a whole bunch of items from the same seller to my watch list, two days later I came back to purchase but they were all withdrawn by a Trademe administrator.
Were they bogus items, scam seller or did the person simply change their mind?
There was no explanation to why the items were withdrawn, which sucks. If you're going to remove something then it might be helpful to leave a reason why instead of just taking it down with no detailed report!
We need to know if it was a legitimate reason or a scam so the community can stay alert of such dealings.

Kia Ora Tere,
TradeMe can't disclose the cause of action on Members accounts as this is in breach of the Privacy Policy - If the particular Member's account has been closed this would indicate there is an issue with this Member account - If it is only the listings which have been removed then there is an issue with the listings themselves which may have a number of reasons why though unfortunately can't be disclosed. - Cheers.

Okay, I don't really care much for their details just a heads up to why their listing was removed would be enough.
Cheers.

Hi Team at TradeMe, our listings are withdrawn by TM Administrator for no reason. Our listings are imported by Omnivore and exported to Trade Runner to list items on Trademe. We have a store on Trademe and currently our listings are under the cap 150. Today, I see over 30 listings are withdrawn and every email for product withdrawal does not have a reason. Here is the email " This is an automated email regarding listing reference: 5319446425. Your listing for "9CT GOLD FILIGREE FLAT CROSS PENDANT. R # 338" has been withdrawn at your request. Thank you for using Trade Me. https://www.trademe.co.nz" This is frustrating and a lot of buyers are getting upset with unnoticed withdrawals. please advise how to fix this and stop such withdrawals permanenty. Thanks

Or leave your message there during Afterhours. If you use the Drop Down menu on the Landing page instead of using the Chat bubble, if you select the right criteria through the Drop down menu's you find a request form Link at the very bottom of the page...Drop down menu Example:
