Duplicate Listings - Trade Me Issue
AnsweredThis is a very annoying issue and has been for some time now. I've had a few over the last weeks and months, but today I have a number of duplicate listings that were generated by TM without my knowledge and didn't realise this had happened until this evening.

Hi Wendy, this sounds frustrating. So we can take a look behind the scenes and work out how and why this has happened, it would be helpful if you could get in touch on email or chat with some examples. We can then also remove any duplicate listings and refund any applicable fees.

@TradeMe I’ve had the same happen to me a few times. I have one that happened today as well. Can you please assist in removing it without me having to pay a withdrawal fee. Thanks

Hi I have just discovered that one of my auctions has been duplicated by Trademe. I have removed one of the auctions and have been charged $3 for something that was not my fault. Debbie.

I’m sick of international stores getting away with having duplicate listings, when I thought this wasn’t allowed? They’ve changed the sell price by a few cents per listing - but for exactly the same item. It’s very frustrating when trying to buy something.

I keep getting duplicate listings at times. Today I didn't notice before it was too late to withdraw it for free. Please refund the $3.80 fee I incurred for this trademe glitch and Trademe it is time to fix the glitch as it sems to be have been going on for over a year

Just had two of my auctions duplicate themselves & had no idea this had happened until auction had finished. Now having to let winning bidders down which I'm not in the slightest but happy about. Seriously needs to be sorted.

I am very very very disappointed since I found my dealer listing has been listed by TM as Private seller, The matter informed and resolved before again same issue which always effect on sales and sales enquiries from the customer, very disappointed.

Yes Shahzad, there are some categories that display the Private seller badge incorrectly. Trademe are aware of and have been for some time.

This community forum is in place for all members to help each other where we can.You are Best to withdraw the duplicate listing before any bids/purchases are made on both then contact TradeMe staff through their "Live Chat" facility for assistance in solving this issue and to request a refund of any withdrawal fee you may have been charged. - You will have unique info' that TM will want to investigate to prevent this reoccurring.
Once you've selected the Contact us Chat Tab you need to give the landing page a count of 15+ seconds for the Chat Tab to Pop up in blue with a black speech bubble at the bottom right of your screen, there is a slight delay in this appearing.
The manned hours weekdays are 9:30:am - 5:00pm and weekends 9:30am - 4:pmEnsure you put the Listing numbers in your Chat window enabling staff to pull these up easily. - Cheers.0 -

How did the 2 Listings get placed? - if you listed the item twice you are Best to Withdraw the second Listing before Both Listings gain bids.
If the listing mysteriously duplicated itself follow my Comment for Glen as above - Cheers.

I can advise on exactly how this issue is occurring as it happens to me all the time. It is highly frustrating and I've seen nothing done in correcting this problem. It's all very well to say you can delete/withdraw for free within the first hour however this would involve being aware of it having happened within an hour of posting the listing. If it were me making multiple identical listings of something sure I'd be aware of that and therefore know to go ahead and withdraw the surplus listings however it is not occuring this way so unless I go through and check immediately after every single listing I create of course I am unaware of it initially. It is a bug that is from using the app, could also be desktop I don't know but I use the app. When I select the final start listing button and it doesn't respond so I click it again or repeatedly this is where it is stemming from and producing duplicate listings from the same one listing ad that I have created. It's especially irritating when it is a gallery/paid listing because it also duplicate charges me for them. It takes quite an effort to get a response and result from contacting trade me and informing them about it each time it occurs. I usually just edit the listing into something else that I wish to list when it happens but I currently have one listing running twice which I used gallery on and wish to be refunded for so I have had to extend contact about it. I've been waiting a couple of days now to get a reply and don't like having this error remaining in my sales still as it creates confusion for potential buyers who observe that there is a double up. It may also put potential bidders off from placing a bid on these listings that are duplicated and could bring the validity of the listing into question where the potential bidder is aware that there are two or more of the same listing running at one time. I've had it make up to 4x of the same one at the worst occurance of this.

I've just had the same issue (duplication) and only found out about it once my 3!! auctions for the same item had expired without a sale.
Mine occurred I think from a problem I'm still having with some listings - I'll type in the title, then go to the category and once I select a category my page just 'resets' and my title disappears! I've then reentered the title and started again but this time I'm actually working on the 2nd duplicate .... and it occurs again and I find I'm working on a 3rd duplicate copy.
The only way I can get to avoid this is to go to one of my listed items and select 'Sell a similar item' and write over that listing.
Is anyone else having issues like this?

Your description pinpointing the occurrence for you is very helpful information to pass onto TradeMe staff through "Live Chat" for investigation along with your affected Listing number(s), if you haven't already. - Screenshots including the URL address bar may also be of help for the Tech Team to follow.
