Car ramps, a scam?
I've just been searching for car ramps. Most of the listings show ramps x 2, or a pair of ramps, and the buy now price.
When you go into the listing it then says the price is per each.
How/why is this being allowed?

Hello luigig. No, this is not a scam. This is just the way Trade Me have set up multiple quantity listings.
The wording is for EACH PAIR. If you select 2, you will get 2 pairs (4 ramps)
It does confuse some people the first time they see it, but most work it out :)

Sorry, I disagree. It does not say pair at all.

My first search was via Mac, the listing said 2x car ramps, buy now $78.90. When clicked on that became $78.90 each.
Each in English means one ramp. It should have said per pair, if it actually meant 2 for $78.90.
In the mobile app, it says per item. Which is still not clear. Is the item the 2 ramps or just one.
In any case, it cost them a sale. That's Trade Me's responsibilty for not insisting on clarity.

That listing clearly says it's a pair. Both in the title of the listing, and the first line of the description.
It's obvious to me, but as I mentioned previously, it can confuse some people the first time they see it.
You are correct that sensible sellers will make it even more obvious. I know I do. So if it costs them a sale, then like you say, it's on the seller. Whenever I list something like this my first line is "You are buying a pair of car ramps for $78.90" Which in itself can be annoying. As I have to remember to update my description if I need to alter the price.

Description
Pair of Car Ramps / 2x Vehicle Ramp
Fairly obvious

The word "Each" certainly prompts one to re-read the description and possibly even ask a question just to be 100% sure. Everything in the add reads as a pair, then the word "each" adds that little bit of uncertainty and it's funny hown 1% uncertainty can overshadow the other 99%. For me at least anyway, but yes, I read the add as a pair :-)

So, if you ordered and received one ramp?

Kia Ora luigig,
Whenever in doubt ask the seller a question, the Q&A section in the listing forms part of the contract you're entering into. - Cheers.

Hi luigig
If the seller only sends you 1, you have a good case to open a dispute if the seller doesnt put it right. The auction clearly states a pair multiple times. The "each" on the buy now multi listing refers to one item for sale in the auction - in this case a pair.of ramps is one item. Eg if the pair is in a box, the auction is for 1 box.
